Salomon Rocker 2 Telemark skiing
I have posted a thread on whether to get the 170cm or 180cm Salomon Rocker 2. The one thing that I did not mention was that I am a telemark skier. I am going to mount NTN on the Rocker 2 and was wondering if there is any further advice from others as to what size would be best for the ski with telemark set up. Once again I am 5'8 and 165 lbs. Last season I skied on the Czar 174cm.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated on the telemark side of the Rocker 2 with regard to the length (170 or 180cm)
Thanks!

Good question. I'm planning on throwing 01's on a 184 Rocker2, and I'm trying to figure out where to mount.

I'm your weight, just a bit taller, ski tele, and my traditionally shaped skis are mostly 180s. Anything rockered is going to ski shorter than you're used to in that length. I ski the Czar in a 182. Anything with both a rockered tip and tail I'd want longer than that. My Mavens are 189 and don't feel long at all because the running surface is quite short. I'm not a particularly skilled skier and wouldn't want anything shorter.
Haven't skied the Rocker2s, but I'd think that a 170 would ski closer to a 160. I'm pretty sure I'd want something bigger than a 180 with both tip and tail rocker.

Current practice in most of the telemark community calls for boot center 0-2 cm back from the suggested boot center location on the ski, depending on preference. Very close in location to an alpine mount. FWIW, most of my rockered skis are mounted about 1 cm back from boot center.

Thanks. I'll have to check the boot center mount location on the skis. I don't want the tails to wash out easily, but I also want some ski in front of me.

... and remember you've got +/- 1.5 cm adjustability with the NTNs
