Oh man; that's the stuff right there.
    Yesssss.

Edited to add that Bay Area skiers obviously suck, and are kooks. Wannabes, y'know? Sad. Just sad.

that would explain why they wouldn't allow 6-wood holders even for their (early) closing weekend saturday. heres a hint. if you don't have what it takes to stay open mid-week, allow all passholders access when you do feel like opening. ranks up there with stevens pass staying open late, but forcing passholders to buy tickets. vail sucks.

even so, it was a good day. ottime, not at kirkwood mountain resort.

In my case, no doubt negative.

I suppose I could've skied it out, so technically not mandatory. But that would've meant hucking over brush to a flat landing on the equipment road, and particularly after tweaking my knee on the prior run, I decided I was too old for that shit.

Down to just Alpine Meadows for lift served in Tahoe. Penultimate weekend was fun fun, with chilly northeast wind keeping things from getting too sticky.

Kirkwoods hype is just that. Hyperbole. Despite having the highest base and the k factor, they can't keep it up til the end. Kudos to alpine's mgmt for having what it takes.

for instance, the backside closed 2 weeks ago (or more?). obviously due to the lack of snow

Although Kirkwood was fun yesterday, it sure did not have that closing day vibe. Saw a few friends and met a couple new one's but I figured I would have seen a lot more folks I knew out there yesterday.

Security at every chair, seeing a pass pulled for throwing another slushball at the top of the Wall, No Cone Zone...
It was one of the weakest closing days I can recall.
Fortunately, the skiing was fine all weekend.

Agreed, the skiing was fine at least... Even really good in spots! Should be for a few more weeks as well, but, what do I know? KW was staying open till "the snow was gone", so I must be imagining it....

Like PD said, welcome to the new Kirkwood! (Oh, and PD, you're not allowed to post REALLY OLD pics of actual snow as it's contributing to my aparently failing mental capacities. )
    I can't remember...

In case anyone was curious, the Leap is totally dry and climbing well. Saturday morning was cold until around 12, then warming up nicely. Basically numb hands climbing in a puffy in the morning, t-shirt weather in the afternoon. Good stuff.
