Yum yum, nothing like scoring 1300' of calf+ deep, with cold smoke face shots, with 3 other mags at 6 PM, after sitting in a hot tub drinkin Drake's 1500 all afternoon.
Training for Alaska definitely paid off today!

Started my day at 1:20. Sat in Reno until noon saw radar go blue and webcams go white, called a buddy jumped in the car arrived at 1:00. Took our time getting ready to allow some accumulation. The next 2.5 hours were heavenly bliss. Second best day of the year for me following Wednesday's refill day. Nothing beats storm day skiing!!
Sqauw or Chutes tomorrow, choices,choices,choices.
As we enjoying weather, we too thought of the 30rh anniversary of the slide at Alpine.

sorry shralph, i never got yer text as i have a new phone. wind died down so we kinda pushed it a bit w/ our line choice as it turns out. similar to what you guys found it was some of the lightest density over the shoulder turns of the year. we skied faster then the sluff but there was a massive pile at the bottom when we were done

Schralph's been training for Alaska since before it was Training For Alaska.
Snowing nicely at Alpine right now. Got lucky on the drive up, traffic lightened up and the road silliness cleared up just before I came through. Made really good time all the way to Tahoe. Dropped off a guy in Tahoe Donner on the way. His road is last to get plowed. There was enough accumulation that I was plowing a little with my undercarriage with 8" of ground clearance. And he's not that high up. Definitely altitude is everything. The snow level at river level is much different than at 6800'.**

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

'dork, where's your other pole? Lol at your dog.
Morning everyone! Hey Shralp, not sure where you guys are riding but I'll wave at you SLT folk from west shore! Have fun and be safe. North Lake/South Lake Emerald Bay segregation is in effect I'm guessing.

I'm so glad I intentionally tore my ACL and can't ski the past few powder days including today. I hate the cold powder covers the artwork on my ski bases . Staying home and doing pre-op physical therapy exercises has got to be the ultimate rush. Who needs pow or MSP film stoke or Redbull or crystal meth?

I saw what appeared to be a big slide that started on 99 steps. Looked like it ran down the gully quite a ways too. Kind of glad to hear that the delay in lift openings had to do with actual slide activity as opposed to ops just not getting 'em going. Because it seemed a bit ridiculous how long it took after 6 popped to get 10, then 2 then Vista T-bar.....and when I left at noon 4 still had not started loading.
Great April Fools Day light pow and bright sunshiney day. Both sides of Carson Pass looked uber dreamy on the drive back too. But the death star will change that by tomorrow I'm guessing. Looks like another blast of pow on Weds/Thurs. Gotta love spring in Tahoe!

Skied gaperwood all morning using special liftline strategies. Around 12:30 4 was opening, but the crush of humanity on 2 had us thinking it was time for skinning at Luther. Saw a lot of emergency vehicles tearing out to kwood as we left.
Any other info on what happened?
