We followed the direction of Ski Patrol and got into the Chutes before they got tracked. With the wet snow we had yesterday, we knew it had the potential to get jankey pretty quick.
I had to leave about 1:30 so don't know how the day ended, but I overheard a radio conversation of a patroller that they were going to re-evaluate the Chutes. Not sure what happened after that.Sometimes you have to let your bad self ski...

I'm thinking (hoping) it won't be quite as bad as it normally would be because of all the rain during the week, which may have scared off a lot of people from the bay area. I'm going to take my chances at VailWood on Sunday (which I'm guessing will be much better than Saturday).

FWIW there was zero line on KT Wed. Whether that means a lot of people have bailed/given up/were laid off or whether folks were just waiting for better and more snow I have no idea.

I heard the same, but with fb it could be the same source. Still, makes me pause as I leave now for northstar. Would love to buddy up if anyone else is there. 510,393,307two

The Dad and I are thinking the same thing. If I were going to Tahoe tonight, I'd be leaving now. I'd be surprised if 80 doesn't close at least for some portion of this evening/night. Me? I'm going to Davis momentarily to watch my kids' Robotics competition at UCD. Driving up tomorrow after the finals.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

Definitely a slide across home run, good size debris pile to pick through. I'm not sure whether or not it happened during avy control or later. Been hoping for gold coast/shirley, but gold coast just stopped moving...

The real question is whether anyone can get OFF of 80 since the Squalpine backup on
89 will be past donner summit. All those cars will be sitting there while it dumps and one could probably make a few bucks helping them dig out when things finally start moving around 3. That means you get to ski their pow and take their money

Here's pics of the KT slide.

After all of the mini wet slides I was seeing Wednesday, can't say I'm all that surprised.

^^^edit, those pics are insane. Beacon or no, looks like that thing would beat you to a pulp. Hope is slide when things were closed.
Sat or Sun. Tough call. Headed to KW.
Starting to look like this thing is moving through early and quick. Gonna get dumped on tonight, and winds look like they will die by morning. If the road stays open and 6 pops early, I'd want to be up there. Thoughts on this? Will KW dig out early? They seem to be doing a solid job this year of getting things open. Don't really want to show up Sunday and only have hiking as an option. OTOH, don't want to drive all night, wait at the pass, finally get to the valley and have 6 standing still.
Don't care too much about the backside, but it would be an even bigger bummer to see that open on Saturday from my living room couch.
For those who have been up there this week, how have operations been? And if anyone wants to PM me at 2AM with storm details, I'll be checking the computer before I hit the road.
I'd push harder for two days, cept it looks like its gonna keep on snowing all month.

Almost went to work today cause the sound of the rain all night was kinda depressing. Really fun day though, snow skied bottomless for the most part, some wind refills besides the snow coming down all day. Almost no one on the hill, did not even have to work hard to get fresh tracks till we called it at 1:30 to save plenty of gas for hopefully an Epic Saturday.
Big fat flakes finally coming down at the house right now.
And another big thumbs up for kwatta!
