Tahoe hockey players,
Lets get a pond hockey tournament going. Tahoe vs Mammoth. We can have it at Lundy Lake or possibly Virginia Lakes, (haven't been there in a while but can check it). We'll do it like the US Pond Hockey Championships in Minnesota. 6 man teams, 4 on 4 action. Since the weather looks clear for a long time we can either do it this weekend or the last weekend in January.
Pass this on to anyone you know who plays hockey. This tournament will be legendary if it goes off. If it doesn't, that means we got some snow. It's a win win really. PM me if you are interested.
BBQ, beers, bonfire, and pond hockey. Sounds like good times.

Best to park at Stagecoach as you can hit the upper stuff in Nevada before the Gondola crowd gets there, from the top of Olympic to the bottom of Stagecoach is a pretty dam long run, that's fun to bomb before the crowds hit.
Keep in mind you can ski to California but you can only get back to Nevada via a shuttle bus, or you can bring skins and skin back up the California trail. Another option is to Park in California take the shuttle in the AM to Nevada and end your day in California.
I'm with ya though I'm lucky if I can make it 1 1/2 hours before I bored to tears. Stagecoach is a good launching point for mountain biking right now though, so I've been packing the bike with me when I go.

I'm outta shape so I couldn't play 4 x 4. Maybe 6 x 6, either way I'll come out to support Tahoe because everyone knows Mammoth sucks and they can't play hockey.

Oh it's on. Let's make this happen.
Plan on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28-29. We can play at Lundy Lake for now unless better ice becomes available. I would like to play next weekend but my team is heading to Minnesota for the US Pond Hockey Championships. I can put together at least two more teams. If Tahoe can put together three teams we have a tournament. You should try to get a Reno team together. I hear they have double bladed skates at Play it Again Sports in Carson. That should help you desert rats with your balance.

I'm in for hockey too, so is Mrs. Klammer who is an excellent hockey player. January 21-22 weekend would work for us.

Conversation last weekend with girlfriend learning to ski:
GF: Ok, so I need to bring what in my pockets? I've got Chapstick, Water, sunglasses, goggle lens & case, wallet, keys, cell phone, sunscreen. what else? bring shoes and a hat?"
Me: No. You'll need flask, safeway sub, water, wallet, ipod.

We can do it this weekend? There is also a guy who is bringing up a few teams from down down south the first weekend in February for a tournament at the rink. If you guys want to send down a team for that I can get you in. I can also get you a deal on lodging. Let me know if you are interested.
This is our first time going to Minneapolis. We were supposed to go last year but had half the team go down with injury and had to pull out.
I am also down for doing a pond hockey tournament during the week. I really have nothing going on and can scrape up a bunch of players whenever.
Lets make this work .

45hill, you should cross-post the hockey stuff in the Eastern Sierra thread.

First lift accessed turns of year today at AM. Surprised how much fun I had even if I got bored after 1 hr 15 minutes. That main groomer off roundhouse is actually really nice and was uncrowded.
Fyi, the GFS model was looking semi promising today for Tahoe starting around the 18th. Hopefully it comes to fruition.

For those of you who have Squaw/Alpine passes, there's a deal on if you bring up your jong friends for Learn-To-Ski month. Through January, they can get a $69 learn-to-ski package, and if you bring them in for it, you get paid $20.12 in a voucher you can spend anywhere on the mountain. Not a bad deal.
