Something is definitely amiss though when you find yourself packing crampons for a mountain bike ride

Was there on Saturday. Made me VERY appreciative of what we have open in CO. Was super fun airing off the catwalk for a fun triple hit.

On a side note, this whole Asian invasion going on is something else. Heavenly on Sunday was quite the sight.

I claimed the first descent of that spine earlier in the day.

Whistler should have a promotional discount for Tahoe pass holders - with another shitty 10 day forecast, we're likely to head up that way in droves. I know I'm thinking about it.

(yes, I'm aware of the Squaw / Whistler discount, just surprised they aren't promoting it hard right now).

I wasn't aware. Hmm... time to plan a trip north?

Ok that was pretty cool, total accident or did you plan that one

Yea Gimpy, that's the trail, the desert floor run was also a new trail that drops down to Genoa from the Bench.

Was at Sugar Bowl yesterday with the grom. It was a workout; that's about all I have to say about that day.

As Harpo said, the ice climbing right now in Tahoe is very, very good. Cascade Falls is super fat and fun. I am sure Cold Creek Canyon up by Donner is formed now as well and good. Heard Eagle Creek Canyon was also good.

You'd love it, Miles upon miles of raw sweco track, wide, loose and plenty of small rocks to help toss you around, at least it's downhill, in a few years it should be more fun.

Definitely looks good from a topographic standpoint

Is it really all sweco cut though? That's a lot of mileage for one of those things.

It is easy to find from the bench? (directly at the bench or north/south a bit from it?)

    Thanks man!

It's a little hard to find cause of the snow, starting from the bench itself will add quite a bit more vert.

We started from N. Benjamin, go Right on the first fireroad crossing, not to far down you'll see a sign on the left side of the road facing the opposite direction, go past that a very short ways then take a left (should see our tracks in the snow).

Dropping down from the Bench (south) it would be the first fireroad you hit after that fun swoopy downhill, I believe the actual trail connects just prior to the road but we did not feel like looking for it in the snow.

The last one & 1/2 miles or so is hand built and pretty nice, but very switchbacky at this point though. Talked the Trail designer on the way down (who was pushing his bike up), they plan on doing some hand work next year to smooth it out a bit.

tamba had a trail work day on this trail back in the spring...when the basin trails were still snow covered. we've been trying to get the word out about the new trail but not everyone reads the e-newsletter or FB page. haven't ridden it yet but talked to spats and tahoeBC after they rode it. sounds like it has potential but needs some finishing work.

Okay, so I may jump. Spending an extra day down on the coast to get another few surf sessions in, but I'll be on the slopes by Thursday. I think I have five (half) days up there. Jumping will mix it up.

That last shot is great, btw.
Yes you should. If an old guy like me can hit backflips on that thing, you definitely can. It was definitely funner than chair 11.

Well, this isn't pretty. Looking outside this morning at 6800', the ground is wet. It isn't raining now, but it obviously rained overnight. Skiing today should be fine, but if this re-freezes, it may be time to break out the CCM Super-Tacks for skiing.

I thought that's the one you guys were working on. I do read the newsletters. I literally was out of town 80% of the summer......I wanted to come to those trail days and am still bummed I missed them.
