Any mags have info about what areas would have good coverage for a snowshoe hike this saturday? I'm jonesing for some snow, but I still can't ski. My knee repaired 7 weeks ago, not cleared till Jan 1st.

    Thanks?

Thoughts and prayers to the Reno mags ... fire is now down by Washoe golf course (according to this map), just a few blocks away from one of my best friend's parents house.

    CPSSR. Sounds Soviet to me.

Vibe to Reno. That is a dramatic picture. Rained down in SC from 2-3. Not much, but hopefully they get a bot of spill over to help douse that thing.

Some nice snow up here. I got up this morning thinking "I think I left my boots in the car". Nope, left them in the living room at home. Was going to go to Boreal to take a few laps with UnAlpine, but alas, no. I'm breaking out the sled, going to tow it up Alpine walking, and sled back down. Should be fun. I needed the exercise anyway.

    Edit: GNAR was SLEDDED!

Also, I bumped into the Doctor of GNAR himself. He and another friend had just finished a morning skin up / ski down Alpine and reported not hitting any rocks. There were a number of people out shredding the gnar of Kangaroo while I was sledding. All in all, lots of fun.

since nobody else has mentioned it yet, there has been a bit of a change with the forecast (this is happening right now)
SOUTHERLY FLOW AHEAD OF THE SYSTEM WILL FAVOR HIGHEST SNOW AMOUNTS
ALONG THE SIERRA CREST WHERE 6-10 INCHES WILL BE COMMON, BUT THERE
IS POTENTIAL FOR UP TO 12 INCHES FROM SONORA PASS SOUTH TO MAMMOTH
    MOUNTAIN.

To extend the jinx... looks like it's headed straight for CPSSR. I just hope the Squaw guys aren't training at KW, they're known for landing shells at the wrong resort.

And dhk, thanks for the Japanese footage. A bit shaky in places but went down well with pizza and winter bock. You guys had a blast and I can't wait to start the season.

Who wants to skin up Kirkwood early Monday morn and check out the bombholes? Ski with a metal detector? I thought minefield just meant thin coverage! OK. I'll stop. You can come back now.

Just came down to Verdi from Kings beach.

Not snowing much in KB or Truckee @ 2AM but it was a WHITE OUT up on Brockway summit. Probably 3 inches’ on the ground and snowing about 3 to 4 per hour. Let see how it holds up.

Mmmm, ya. I so need some snow to fall before I arrive up there Wednesday. Looking like KW will still be closed on Thanksgving, so I have a slightly bigger window to tour. I would prefer to bring my wrens only, but can't really afford any core shots just yet.

It is wet down here right now after a pretty decent break earlier this morning. Hopefully this is all shifting right to the east.

nice pooch there. How are is ski legs?

edit. Looks like SAC http://www.sierraavalanchecenter.org/advisory advisories are up and running. Also looks like a pretty persistent weak layer. Check your batteries and check your head.

I'm comin to Draino, er Reno for Turkey Day and I'm wonderin if I should bring my touring gear, might be worth it if this upcoming mid-week storm pans out? Sounds like mo coverage the farther south one goes, hoping to make some turns.
