Rose was nice today in certain spots; other areas were a bit wind scoured but where it was good was a ton of fun and empty!

^^^I was just about to ask. Looking at the webcam it does not seem to be blowing too hard.
Down here it is pretty strong. 20+ knot gust. And it sounds like n. lake got some winds.
Good. I don't want a stripping. Looking forward to an early Sunday morning skin followed by some lift serve.
Did you ever catch up to those snowboarders?

Awesome day at Alpine Meadows - summit chair went on wind hold, but had lots of fun laps off of Scott in the slackcountry.
Headed to KW tomorrow - did they open the backside?

The backside did not open. Still pretty strong winds here at the lake.

Backside never ran today, but Powdork speaks truth. Frontside delivered the goods well into the afternoon with non-existent crowds.

Sneaker storm delivered my first really solid day this year. High winds, lots of blowing snow, no one around, rock skis don't care about the sharks. Be light on your feet and careful not to bury your tips. Maybe my standards are low but I had fun.

Today @ Alpine was good. Even w/Summit closed. Hit some nice laps off Scott and ABC then Keyhole traverse delivered after lunch.
Feels good to be laid up on the sofa worked after 3 days skiing. Been too long.

Any thoughts on how any bc options will hold up through the weekend?
-
02-16-2012, 02:51 PM #2300
Yes. Some of them will hold up very good. Armchairing it from Santa Cruz, I'd say north facing trees below ridge line will be ski nicely with redistributed powder. Especially if we can squeak a few inches on Saturday.
WSW got loaded, but with cool temps and cloud cover this weekend after sun today, I'd expect crust. But later next week could see a corn cycle.
Also seems like n lake got more wind than s lake.
EDIT: tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, but it is only 38F at the s lake airport right now.
