2) It IS officially winter. Winter started back somewhere around the end of August.
3) You're right CO has it bad... Silverton is open with 48". BRUTAL!
4) I will continue to keep your Northstar Steeps uncluttered with my hackery.

i'm trying to help the greater cause..... i'm gonna get my north lake homie TahoeArmada to leave the sierras for a few days and join me on my roadtrip to portland.... it's not very far away like going to mexico, or illinois, but usually when he is gone it snows, so hopefully this will help.... maybe he can bring some skis to burn too just as a little extra offering....

Mt Rose was in rare form today. Definitely one of the top five days of the season for me.
Of course I've only skied 4 days. Kudos for the snowblowing and grooming crew for the one very firm run they created. Because everything else looks like a glazed donut: brown with a bit of white glazing here and there.Every man dies. Not every man lives.

It looks like this winter could start like some of the early 2000's did. 105" new snow with warning signs saying early season conditions exist. Jetstream will be on us by Thursday of next week according to Tahoe Weather Discussion. I will spend the rest of my day telling the guys in Colorado and Whistler to stop complaining that they havent skied POW in a week.

^^^um, maybe. Your talking a week away, before we actually have seen any real pattern change. Although the storm sneaking down the coast Sunday offers some promise of the ridges actually breaking down. I think it is better to hedge one's bets, put away the skis for the winter, and go enjoy some sun in Palm Springs. I mean, some one needs to sacrifice around here.
It is not so much lack of snow, but lack of funds (and baby care) that keeps me from shredding up your cord Dooks. And besides, the surf has been good. I guess i put WRODS and thin BC somewhere around patches in my hierarchy. Don't worry to much though, I'll never have the funds for your groomers up there. But if you wanna find me a comp ticket, i'd be willing to enjoy a few turns with you.

Yo Lego, I'll call you later. I, MapleLeaf, Dynosaur will be going to TAFF. Driving up to KW tomorrow mid-day to pick up our passes and do some groomer skiing / beacon practice. Thinking about top roping on Sunday around Eagle Canyon if it's not too damn cold also. I don't do the ice climbing thing, but dyno does. Divegirl has her email I think.

Add the Northeast to the list. Peeked at Squaws cams, you're as snow starved screwed out there as we are back East. I don't get it - I know proper Ullrfests were held both in the East and West. That should of been good enough for more than WROD skiing in the brown and grey hills. Please let it dump everywhere!

QUESTION: What do people use to fill in old binding holes on skis? I tried Gorilla Glue, but it kind of just bubbled out.
Very possibly. Would prefer the eastern side of things. Stuff goes in the Basin in places like lower Tyrolean, but there are patches of black ice, which really sucks for biking. Also it's cold and I'm a wuss.

Racoonface is my bitch so pics will be forthcoming.
I think I'm to blame for this drought with the following jinx: Last May I took a new job working afternoons and nights allowing to me ski every single day this season. I was and am pretty stoked and told a few people about it over the spring and summer. And voila`.

Of course they make plugs for that, if you want to be all fancy. But assuming a wood ski, I just dribble in epoxy, leave it high, let it cure/shrink, and then razor off the scab the next day.
Foam, I think, ees no bueno to have epoxy in there. But you don't have foam skis, because we both know you're a better person than that.

Ah, who cares. What else do we have to do except punch ourselves in the faces? Dream longingly of ripping sweet Northstar groom? That is the first step toward madness, son.

ja_surf, I think they do but it sold out really quick last year. So we got our tix online - my advice if you have a long day is just pay the AssMasster Fees.
AKB, I just did mine with a hot glue gun last night. Not that easy because you have to fill in slowly so it goes all the way to the bottom rather than capping it off. But the cheap $5 glue guns have small nozzles and you can fill it slowly. Easy to scrape clean with a razor blade and it's done faster than epoxy (which you'd want to wait 24 hours to cure before taking out to ski etc).
Anyone ever skied on a relocated dislocated shoulder before? With big shoulder pads?_______________________________________________

skied with a bum shoulder all the time. doesn't pop out any more though. i wouldn't think shoulder pads would help at all.

They make plastic hammer-in plugs, but I do this the hard way: use blunted-off wood golf tees (sharp tips bubble out the base), wood glue in the holes; hammer in the golf tees and let glue dry. Cut off tees flush with topsheet (I use a Dremel), then dab paint over tee to seal the plug.
I prefer to think that gluing in wood into wood-cored skis is a stronger repair than pounding in a plastic plug. It may not make any difference, but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, so that's all that really counts, right?

Last year I scored a ac separation on a tree at heavenly. I was good enough to ski the next week, just avoid falling on that side and you'll be good

sounds good, guys, thanks for the experience and reckless encouragement! I mean, we all like to push it when gimped I just needed to know others have done the same without their arm falling out
Never popped out of a shoulder before - happened at a climbing gym comp tonight and that thing popped loud enough for 15 people watching me to all gasp as I fell off the wall. It went back in on its own about 10 seconds after I picked myself up off the floor.
All my skiing shit is packed, including a healthy bottle of IBU. I may need someone else to help me scrape off my summer wax though!_______________________________________________

learn to use your pole in the line on a powder day so some charger does not bump your shoulder. you'll look like a dangerous gaper with your pole tip sticking out and up, but your shoulder will be happy for it.
and what was said about falling on the other side.

I have done it many times. It's not a big deal. Most recently last year mine popped out while putting on my jacket in the parking lot. After rolling around the ground for a minute or so it went back in. It was a powder day so i got up and headed to the lift line.
