NmbrdDays, there's a thread over on Gapic about "The Gathering" that they're organizing. A bunch of them have bought something called a Tahoe 6 Pack of tickets. Details over there. I didn't pay much attention because I already have a pass here.

Your choices for skiing will be Squaw, Alpine (together now), Homewood, Northstar, Sugar Bowl - sort of in that order in terms of closeness to TC (Homeywood is closest actually, but Squaw/Alpine much bigger/better). Skiing is better here than in NY.

They use a snowmobile with the same camera rig they put on top of the streetview cars. I was out that day watching the thing drive around squaw

I was thinking squaw and Alpine will prob occupy my time. Just not sure if I want to do the 6 day for both. I have heard some good things about Homeywood.
That much I know. I've been to Heavenly a few times with my fam. This time around is a diff story.

I haven't put skis to snow, but I drive by the area every day. Looks shitty to me, although there are some skin tracks around the Pass and Hourglass. Without another foot of snow or so, I think you'd be hitting rocks regularly.

Like AKBruin said, you're going to hit a lot of rocks.

Went snowshoeing up to chickadee ridge (west end of the Mt. Rose meadows, across highway from Incline Lake) last weekend. There was 8"+ of soft new snow, on top of a thin hard crust in places. In other places, there was no base at all, just fluff on dirt/rock/branches.

Aside from the many snow snakes, the SAC report video that was posted about hourglass conditions also strongly discourages me from any BC skiing right now.

Squaw was a hoot today with some fun pow under the Red Dog lower manzanita field.

Re Rose Tahoe Meadows BC, I drove over 431 this morning. It's not soup yet. Not even close.

/\/\ Until 11/30 you can buy a Season Pass good at Alpine & Squaw for $439. Good any day in March. Or you can buy a 6-pack of Squaw/Alpine tickets good any day for $399. http://www.squaw.com/season-pass?hp

They haven't announced daily ticket rates for Alpine/Squaw yet, but I'd be surprised if they're less than $90/day. The season pass options also include discounts on food, lessons, rentals, etc. May be worth considering if you plan to spend money on any of the stuff they discount. Plus if you have a season pass, you can keep your eyes on super cheap airfares to Reno and use the pass as an excuse to get some extra days in.

I got roped into cooking next door tomorrow, so I won't make it for turns.

FWIW - The KW website had a NO UPHILL HIKING - SIERRA AVALANCHE CENTER REPORT post today

    http://www.kirkwood.com/site/blog/no...-center-report

sounds like they'd rather not have folks hiking the mountain right now - I can respect that

I am planning to be at KW Friday morning for WROD turns - might camp a night or two and hit CP, Tahoe, I dunno?
    sorry

http://www.ttcf.net/ They have a pass for 419 that would get you 2 days at each of resorts in the area. The only catch is that they are only good midweek.

My recollection is that areas south of Highway 50 got zero from the Nov 18th storm. Depends on which date is used for the date of the storm, but the first impulse through only hit the west shore and north, and i got the impression that's the faceted layer causing the problem.
I would be interested in pit results from the carson pass area.
