Steady rain coming over crest at 11:30 tonight. Seemed heavier on Truckee side so probably wrap around. Too bad it's going back to summer next week.

My kids will shed a tear. That place was becoming a tradition for us during our summer Tahoe summer stay. We tried to go there labor day weekend and it was closed- which was weird. Ended up at Izzy's. But IMO, BL > Izzy's.

I saw snow on Mt. Rose this morning (on the actual mountain, not sure about the resort). Heavenly showed some on its webcams too.

Got a good amount of wrap around moisture here in the south shore, looks like the ground got a pretty decent soaking, predicting velcro out on the trails today

Really? A dusting on the very top of a couple peaks. If this were a Mammoth thread maybe. they had snow down to the base yesterday. Besides it will all be gone on Sat. I say we wait. But really it's all up to RCF.

I would say that I need to see photographic/visual evidence of someone skiing it to be believing it in order to establish a new thread.

P.S. It was nice to see a dusting of snow up in the Sweetwater Mountains on my drive home today.

Perhaps Vets is saying "Wait until we get first skiable snowfall in the Tahoe area (i.e. Carson Pass to Donner Pass) to start a new thread", but then again I could very well be putting words in his mouth...

...and the debate as to what officially starts the new season continues!

I did not see snow on Mount Rose today as I left the house at 6:30 am and it was too dark. By 4:30 pm when I returned home from Cracktown, the snow was gone off of Rose. That cannot count, especially with another indian summer now in the forecast next week. No new thread yet...

New thread? Really? The surf is running, it is super glassy and the sun returns tomorrow. Warm days are ahead of us, and as TahoeBC points out, the single track is primed. Why would we want a new thread.

Hooked a bunch of steelhead earlier this week. Got poured on during a wedding at Lovers Point in Monterrey on thursday. Surf was good in SC this afternoon. Solid week, time for some real snow.

RF started this thread last year when we had flurries on Labor Day weekend. The seasons are turning, it looks like we had a wee bit of snow today, so yes, the 12/13 Tahoe Thread is due!

^^ We're trying to keep quiet about it after last year. I like BA's hesitant but slowly gaining confidence forecast of more than a foot at 7k feet.

There's also a new thread for 2012 / 13 if that's what you're wondering...
