One more weekend for the Wood. (till it's gone...)
Good.
Mom, we would like for you to make it a bit cooler overnight, please. Thank you for the PowCorn Friday. That was fun. We like creamed corn, too.

Yeah, glad all you eastside soulsearchers scored on Tioga, but wrong f'in thread jongs!

Gimpy, too bad u couldn't stay out for Saturday or today. Hot damn the Xtal range was so $$$ this weekend, despite all my dramatic hyperbole about wet mank not freezing. That shit buffed and froze good on Thursday night, and rode even better. Bcrider and I got some good fun back there Saturday and Sunday, and unlike you guys we got the summit block of Aggasiz proper! Chris called shenanigans on your trifecta due to not actually summiting
Most unbelievable part of the weekend - JT went back out to the TH on Saturday afternoon and his GF brought us all Thai food from Orchid's! I can't say I've ever watched the sun set from the west slope while eating spicy pumpkin curry and pad see ew instead of my usual Backpacker's Pantry dehydrated stuff
Well, that puts a fork in my Tahoe season. I'm grateful for the good times we were able to accomplish despite the brutal late start and other hardships. Cheers all, time to head to Tioga, Lassen, or Shasta ... Or dust off the MTBs and climbing shoes (the Leap is sooo in!)_______________________________________________

Fun at the Wood yesterday. Great to meet Turx and Cindy. Sorry we didnt get to hang.
Very fun at Alpine today. Owen really dug the high-t to Sherwood. He marched up top and dropped in like it was no big deal. Traversed out and shredded the gnar. He was a bit intimidated at first by the scale - it's steep and long for a little man. I'm always surprised those little legs can go so far without getting tired. Proud parents indeed.
Excellent to meet Sinecure.
Big thanks to The Dad for all of his help.
Headed back to Porter's tomorrow to buy some 152 Line Pandoras for Krystal Kartwright!
Finally figured out the iPhone tgr app thingyLast edited by telemike; 04-29-2012 at 10:50 PM.

^^^ except for the bitch who didn't like getting hit with snowballs and called the cops, which then prompted Ski Patrol to ask everyone to stop throwing snowballs (for fear of retribution next season). I was amused with the patroller who after asking us to stop what has been a 30 year tradition at Squaw (patroller mentioned this fact), yelled at the guy "Are you happy now sir!".
Great weekend of spring skiing (I'm sure it was as well at AM or KW).
BTW oldtimer absolutely slayed the pong skim.
I was standing on the mountain run near KT when you went and numerous people around me thought it was a real child.

WTF is the police response code for snowball fight in progress???
AM in the AM, then over to Squaw for a few Pali laps and checking out the pond skim. Met EvIL Knievel on the Funi. I gotta figure he's on this board too.
Great last-weekend turns today, but now turn out the lights on this pathetic season.

^^ there were brappers high marking out in the bowl behind 10 on Friday, looked like fun.
Such a great day Friday and not much competition at all. Got first tracks down Once, Waterfall, Jim's.. Seemed like me and Dima were the only ones lapping the Palisades in the afternoon. I had my doubts about the day but it turned out the mountain was smooth and rippable all over, at least until the afternoon when I had to dial it back a bit after taking my worst digger of the season when I hit a sticky patch high speed
Still one of the best "2-inch" storms in recent memory and a great way to close out the season for me. Bring on 12/13!

Alpine was surprisingly good on Saturday morning... until about noon or so. Was nice that they were still spinning Sherwood so you could hike over there off summit if you wanted, but even so everything from Wolverine over was in pretty good shape as well.
Does anyone want a free Kirkwood ticket from a Tahoe 6-pack? I have two of these I'd like to see used (didn't need them once my Epic pass started working there), so PM me your address and I can drop them in the mail later today / tomorrow.
UPDATE: Tickets claimed.Last edited by TahoeJ; 04-30-2012 at 12:48 PM.

Hit up Rose Chutes with Corky and his crew on Sat. 'Twas muy bueno. I was running late and didn't start skiing until after noon and hit Bee Hive first then back for a second helping on the groomers on Slide side down to Chaos. It was creamy even at 2:30 pm.
Hit up Squaw for closing day on Sun and skied until after 2 pm, finding plenty of solid spring goodness off of Sibo (Reverse Trav) and down under Headwall, as well as off of KT.
I'm continually surprised by all the comments from folks quitting at noon because of stickiness. I've been finding the snow to be actually better later in the day at both AM and Squaw, as well as Rose the past week."Man, we killin' elephants in the back yard..."

^^ Bring a bag of salt with you and salt a path back to the chair. That's what some of the Squaw/KT regulars do. If you knew which side to stick to on the Mountain run, getting back to KT wasn't sticky at all (skied till 4pm each day).

I roll with a block of paraffin, which I rub on my bases in the morning and then re-apply a few times during the day. It seems to work quite well in keeping the sticks running smooth in the spring conditions.
Have also heard that Ivory soap works wonders, but have yet to try it out."Man, we killin' elephants in the back yard..."

Sunday was money there too!
lap 1 Bonanza screamer, then over to Yellow Jacket - rocks in the middle of the upper entry, but that little side-in off the nose skiers left was good to go and accessed the better skiers-left side the whole way down. Def. better on the sunny (left) side up high, the lower half was great everywhere!... jfost is really ignorant, he often just needs simple facts laid out for him...
