1) when they start losing too much money because they aren't selling enough burgers
2) My feelings is this is one more opportunity to drag the entire family up to the snow, and that gives me maybe an additional solo trip as well. Once the wife stops heading up, my trips started getting counted and the discussion about it not being ski season begins.
But, yeah, it may make the Cirque hard for me to get to this year. Doubt I'll be hitting it on July 2nd with American flags waving in the breeze, again.
ShawnB - take a look at your mount. It may be defective. 666, and even one handed Powdork jump off shit, and their cams seem to hold. Or maybe you just need to finesse it more.

Ah. It's not sliding along the rails, TahoeJ. The prob is the standard 'circle-geartooth' mount popping free of its velcro anchor due to inertia under sudden deceleration.
Finesse is out of the question, as I am sponsored by both Prell and an off-brand of horse shampoo sold on the chinese grey market and imported into this country as a household paint stripper.
The velcro seems to barely engage, is the main problem. Possibly defective; possibly just the luck of how the basemount was set, now happening to 'line up' all the velcro points so as not to touch much when the 'circle-geartooth' piece is clicked into place.
...If that makes sense.
Think I'm just gonna fill it with epoxy or silicone and click it into place, see how that goes. I don't need to move it once set.
Plan B would be to spend good money on a new low-profile mount. Less enthused about that, though I'm sure it would take care of bidness too.
To be fair to Contour, those were particularly flat, abrupt landings in muh video upthread.

Good day up on the summit. 3 laps, lots of blower turns, faceshots. I scared the shit out of myself in heart chute, super icy slid for life in the landing of the crux... but was worth the adrenaline rush. Thats all

Supu, just in case you missed Schralph TR, it has been looking something like this. Nothing great. Lack of stability kept us well skiers right of the rock.
Hanging with the boy and hoping to get out for a few off the frontside during the lady's lunch hour. Anyone around (KW/CP zones) for an early morning session tomorrow? Sunnyside already was way soft here in the valley at 9AM, so I thinks morning turns could be good in the right spots.

Everything in the spectrum on West Shore today. Jakes to Hidden with fustercluck and liketoride today.
Good cold air the last few days kept dry consolidated pow up top, heavy pow just under treeline, wet pow and pow with skin below that, and pinwheel/slough elmers glue bullshit above the road.
Good lord is West Shore sad this year. Jakes East Bowl sandbars are in full effect and it doesn't even go to the cottages down there. There are willows/bushes showing in the middle of the gut of EB chute. Not the waterfall exit, but the upper gut. Hidden barely goes to the road right now ...
Sooooo ... Get it while it's there to get!_______________________________________________

Vibes to whoever ended up getting backboarded and c collared at the Redbull Schlittentag, hopefully they're all good.

Every time I come to Kirkwood something amazing happens. Today, an air bag let loose, knock down some unsuspecting skiers waiting for chair 5, and knocked chair 6 off the pulleys. Any one have word if it will be cleared for tomorrow?

Also, to whoever tagged my yak box at the Keys Cafe today, thanks for the new sticker! Still plenty of room on that box to sticker up before the subie dies!_______________________________________________

It was the park landing bag. There must have been a gust. It was blowing at the top but not much down low. I skied out by the bottom of 6 and the cable was outside the multiple sheaves at the bottom. Not an overniter fix...

Typical Kirkwood antics. Was the airbag secured properly? Were people using it when this happened? Sorry to miss this s**t show.

Wait, was it on fire as it blew across the hill?
Otherwise I'm gonna have to call bs and say that doesn't sound like my Kirkwood.

Bummer, as I took a lunch run today on Olympic and as far as steep groomers go, it was all time. I was looking forward to banging out a bunch of fast vertical. Now I guess I'll need to poke around else where.
Shawn, KW has moved beyond the fire thing. That was so last decade. This is the decade of air elemental disaster. Maybe I'll see a tornado or something soon.

I wanna be the guy who just landed in the airbag and was still holding on to it for dear life as it flew away and took out a motherfucking chairlift!!!
Kirkwood, fuck yea.

From the info I have got. Once the cable derailed it moved along the outside of the shiv wheels for 50-60' before the lift was able to stop. The extent of the damage to the haul cable still needs to be inspected, but it didn't sound good. From what I heard it sounds as though the cable needs to be replaced & 6 is done for the year.
On a brighter note, I also was told that Chair 4 will remain open till the end of the year.
Welcome to the K-factor Vail. It isn't just about the weather.Snow Flake Killer

^ Hmm, that does wonders for Cliff Chutes / Lost Cabin / Monte Wolf / Olympic / Sentinel for spring skiing if it's only accessed by 10.
I'm still amazed that no one got hurt by this. Good job on patrol for executing the rappel evacs according to plan!
