A few weeks ago, when I heard rumors of extended the closing date, myself, and the mountain ops employee who was telling me the plans, both though that meant extended into the first or second week of May. You know, like Vail competing with KSL for late season turns. Sounded logical to drum up pass sales.

Not that there was really much snow for that. Anyway, I guess that is cool. Might be able to make it up there for the 27th.
kinda like how squaw and alpine had their seasons extended to a few weeks shy of when they would both be open daily until a few years ago.

Rode Hwy50 Echo lap today. Survival riding @ it's finest. Snow was complete soft mank covering up a layer of manzanita covering granite. It was awesome. It goes all the way to the bottom with no hike out if your route finding abilities are good.

Nuthon - I'm guessing you have one of the few (if not only) descents off Echo Summit this year. I'm bummed I never got to hit it this year but based on your description, I think I'll just go ahead and skip it. Firebreak was rough enough on St Paddy's day.

1" to 2" of sloppy snow in Meyers / SLT this morn. And I was expecting to rev up the snowblower this morn. Total Underperformer. I heard Kirkwood got a foot though.

It sure looked to be from my vantage point but that was a long way away and not a good angle, would like to see a better photo before making that slog. That sucker is definitely on my hit list, I did boot ski the bottom 3/4 of that line in the summer a couple years ago. Dawson didn't recognize it though since I didn't start from the summit and well I wasn't on skis, bastard. Thinking of doing it the same way I did on foot, get a drop off at twin bridges then make my way back to SLT via Echo Peak.

been wanting to try a s side of ralston approach to get to the aloha basin. i have no desire to climb up twin bridges ever again unless its the fattest lowest elevation pack ever.

skiing was ok on luther this am. total reset of heavy pow up to a foot on the upper half and prolly 4-8" w/ old trax visible on the lower half. gonna prolly try the west shore after work.

Killer storm day on Slide Mt, best of the year. Second chair, no one there, snow and wind until 12:45 when I had to split. Chutes popped about 12:30.

    Damn I love Nevada!!

Sugar Bowl was pretty fun today, Lincoln opening just after 930 was nice. Snow was funky fun. Heavy/chalky but fast.

There were maybe 50-75 people total at Mt. Rose today. Incredible. Snowed the whole time I was there (8:30ish to noonish), and that + wind = refilled lines the whole time. Poor visibility but otherwise, this was the pow day of the season for me.

How do I wax for the puddles I see forming between the lodge and chair 3? Please tell me it snowed on top (summit webcam down).

    it snowed

it were warm, but it snowed - I left early today, and it was not raining as of 2pm

I thought the skiing was good, but some folks thought the snow was too heavy. Wimps.

I will be in mid-morning tomorrow. Tonight's temps look reasonably favorable, but it's going to warm up tomorrow afternoon. Skiing should be good for a bit. We could could poke around and find some good turns.

I scored an extra voucher today, but I'd like to hang onto it for SailCat if he needs it for tomorrow.

Rose was rad today! All the pros went to the chutes leaving the rest of the mountain to me!

Anyone else have a fogging issue with the GoPro? I hurt myself today and I was bummed to find out that my camera didn't get it because of fog! Boo!

Kirkwood was fun. Texture! Ten never opened. Sentinel opened late due to extended av control; bombs going of in palisades till 11:00. Sun came out for a few minutes and water poured off the lift towers. It will be good for a couple hours tomorrow morning.

3 laps on Hidden peak today was phenomenal. I lugged my SLR up and got 1 opportunity for action shots cuz my buddy only did 1 run with me. At the end of last photo he douched me with snow all over my camera and in my pack. Thanks Paul!
