Best sandwich in all of Tahoe is the Tahoma Market. Their breads and mustards alone are insane.
Have to try the Fully Belly.
Also may try Sugar Bowl tomorrow....

sweet, except it has tons of holiday restrictions.
Seemed pretty sweet until I read that tid bit.Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood restricted: 11/23 – 11/24/2012, 12/26 – 12/31/2012, 1/19/2013, 2/16- 2/17/2013.
I always liked having a non restricted pass being married to a teacher. Hope they announce their KW only pass soon, and any word on Network Pass would be appreciated? Jason or Stev? Hear anything out there?

I was just looking at announced passes as my little brother looks set to start grad school at UC Davis next year. Would the college pass be the best way for someone in school to ski affordably? He's going to grad school out of the Peace Corps, so he's kind of out of the frying pan and into the fire of brokeness. Any other good early season deals he should keep on the lookout for?

I would keep an eye out for a squawpine student pass as that'd be pretty reasonable for access to 2 good mountains. I doubt we'll get lucky with alpine/homewood/kirkwood/vail all in one again this year

The great thing about Davis is that it's very easy to get to any of the resorts in North Lake, South Lake, or Kirkwood in about 2 hours. Soooo ... don't get a Rose pass, but Sugar Bowl and Sierra are really close. Kirkwood, Squawlpine, Northstar and Heavenly aren't much further.

This year some of the college pass deals had blackout dates that included the holidays. Make sure you check. But I'm pretty sure that UCD has some sort of direct deal with some of the resorts, so check on that too.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

FWIW, NWS forecasters use both orographic and orthographic interchangeably. The guy who did the Sacto office "West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada" forecasts for years used ortho- (not sure if it's the same guy now). And I've seen them described as interchangeable years ago when I was reading more meteorology sites. I use orographic, but YYMV.[/grammar Naziism]
Pour out a glass of ridiculous snow for me this weekend. I'm stuck in the City drinking Guinness and picking out wedding bands.

Full Belly is the only food spot I ever miss when I'm not in Truckee, kinda sad but its so good i don't care that there is nothing else that even comes close. Stoked they moved into the tram building too! On another note, woke up in Tahoe Shity the other morning after partying and there is no where to get a truly good coffee in that whole town, its fucking sad, don't go to tahoe house unless you want the roof of your mouth burnt by nasty coffee and a barista who can't foam milk! Now that I'm done talking about food, its still raining at my house at 6500, of course its not gonna start snowing until all the tools from the bay make it up here, fuck my life

KW was like banging a hot 20yo college chick w/ an STD . Warm, wet, cream cheesy, a little sticky, but oh so much fun when she's just putting out for me and spc.

SuPu, you're a braggart and a tease. I'm guessing today was a jizz frozen to your helmet straps kind of day.
Probably old ... where the heck did you go to med school, and what was the closest good skiing? Going to a strong grad school with nationally ranked programs, in a location that's day-trippable to some of the best skiing in the lower 48, yeah, that's pretty rad. The only other place I can think of are U-Dub and Stevens/Alpy. Even though CU has Eldora, the big resorts are 2 hours out. I guess maybe some U of U programs are okay ...
That's like centrifugal force and centripetal force in physics. Just because people say it, doesn't mean it is accurate, especially not for a PhD in the field.Last edited by SchralphMacchio; 03-15-2012 at 04:21 PM.
