Right on DBT, now you're talking, we should get back to living directly from the land, and let all this materialism based commerce go the way of the dinosaur. We could move like the bison in vast migrations with the seasons, and the land would become a heavenly garden under the loving hands of those who set aside the deceitfulness of wealth. Amen! God bless you brother!

So when they drill for oil, is it really a "new" oil deposit or is it simply sticking another straw in the cup and sucking out of the same reservoir?

Do you think they pick up teaspoon sized spills anywhere else in the world like they do here?
The entire oil, drill baby drill, debate is stoooooopid. Any one with half a brain understands that the USA wants to BUY cheap Foreign Oil and save it's reserves for the upcoming rainy day. We need oil for more imported things than powering cars. If we had any political leadership at all we would be creating a shitload of jobs in moving our energy platform into the 22nd century.
We should be building a shit load of 3rd generation nuke plants for electricity. We should be pursing Hydrogen and Natural gases for auto/truck/bus use. Think of all the jobs building out hydrogen pumps across the country. Ever home in the sunbelt should have solar on the millions of homes, so they are off the grid most of the time.
If just these 3 items were pursued, the job creation could be in the millions of people. New cars, truck and buses would need to be built, the solar panels and everything that goes into building a 100 nuke plants and recycling plants.
America could once again be the world leader in energy alternatives and production . Think of the income from exporting our technology, not to mention the billions saved not paying a bunch of regimes we really fucking hate for oil.
A politician that endorsed that energy policy would get my full support.
    Are you listening Ron Paul?

We should be using the cheapest energy available or we will not be competetive around the world. It's nice to know we have all the good options you listed. Those will come in handy when the price of the cheaper options rises enough to make the more expensive ones practical. Let the market work.

As far as enriching our enemies with oil money......tough call but having ready access to shitloads of our own supply if the time comes that we need to stop buying from OPEC is all the more reason to explore and drill here more.

So people have no incentive to conserve, if its cheap fuck it.

Except if it means that energy prices reflect the true costs of energy development

Because magically we will find all the oil we need, right here in America and those patriotic "American" energy companies will sell it to Americans on the cheap rather than sell it at market prices around the world.

That's a good solid dose of stupidity.

    FIFY

I thought we all wanted to create jobs.

    In my opinion, Live2skis thoughts=win/win.

Jobs and less dependence on foreign energy sources. The only way we will get there is to start going there.

Natural gas is the cheapest source of energy but requires infrastructure investment. Guaranteed you wont' see a single Tea Party moran advocating an infrastructure initiative to utilize the resource. Drill baby drill!

Don't you drill for natural gas? Drill baby Drill

I love the idea of having a natural gas infrastructure. When oil is no longer economical, I'm sure we will. Why does the government have to build the infrastructure. My cable company wired the whole counrty with fiber optic lines, my cell phone company cover the country with cell phone coverage, oil companies covered the nation with gas stations. If and when its HG's turn, it will happen like magic.

I just take the Bible for what is is, I guess, and recognize that I am not a scientist, not trained to be a scientist. I'm not a deep thinker on all of this. I wish I was. I wish I was more knowledgeable, but I'm not a scientist.

    Obviously.

How about leaving the heavy thinking to the intelligent people.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

One of the areas I disagree with him on is oil drilling:

I don't think that's the energy policy that we need, although I would like for companies to have to answer to lawsuits and not the EPA (which seems to be pretty ineffective).
DBS, RP and I are not on the same page. I hope the guy gets on my page, as his energy policy is useless to helping America move forward.

Moran or liar? It's hard to tell:

    Hey y'all, that's not fair!

Tell me one thing I didn't deliver from my campaign promises, just one.

    Open door administration? Check.

Some of you aren't keeping score very well.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm headed back to the beach! See you in September for my double-secret recession ending plan speech! Later!

Yea, he made us all believe we'd be treated to that all the time, and once he was elected he stopped caring about the masses' desire for smooth jazz sax, the Arsenio Hall show fell into decline and obscurity and the voting public was once again lacking a president we could look up to, that is until we found out he was getting head in the oval office, but that only lasted till we saw what she looked like.
