In principle, you are right. In practice, businesses get company cars, houses, etc. for the exectives to live and use tax free.

You know RP is onto something when pretty much the only argument against him is that hes "crazy". Clearly, since the only liberal comeback, usually followed by oh yeah hes going to completely eliminate all education funding! (see 4matic et al) which is just a blatantly untrue statement.

He's not crazy, hes just a big proponent of States rights. He wouldnt abolish anything, just end it on the federal level. If the super lib states like Cali and NJ want to keep shaking the money tree in the dead of winter so to speak, so be it, but its on the individual states. You want abortion and all that other liberal bankrupting stuff, move to a state that has it and deal with the beurocratic bullshit there. Whats the big deal?

Not sure what you mean here, since both of those states are net Donors into the Federal trough, not recipients.

DC shouldn't really count, since we have no representation and a huge chunk of that money goes for "rent" - a stupid small amount at that considering fair market value.

Ive got no problems with company cars. CEO's have to drive to meetings, lots of times with clients. If your going to make someone drive around for work, then the company can pay for the ride. I also dont think its unreasonable for the CEO of a billion plus dollar company to get something a little nicer than a Hyundai.

I hate when people just use blanket statements like that, and automatically you can tell its just jealousy.

He clearly wants a dramatically different America than what we've been for the last 80 years. What would the country look like if all of his ideas were followed?

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.

Really? Look at how ridiculously abused the business light truck tax credit was.

Again, I agree in principle, but in practice, if you have a large discrepency between business and personal income tax, people will find ways to exploit the difference, and the people with access to this technique are already getting enough breaks compared to the middle class.

FWIW, I wouldn't be against abolishing the income tax and replacing it with a sales tax, with exemptions for basic goods like you said. I just don't think you can create a big difference between business income tax and personal income tax and not expect a lot of abuse.

The situation you described is not remotely the typical case. And, I have no problem with it either if it is paid for after taxes.

Its jealousy to be against the idea that people who are likely already wealthy will have yet another way to dump their obligations on the middle class?

I work Technology in the Bay Area. Many of my co-workers are H1B or green card holders. I would say to a person the things they admire most about the US is our clean water, environmental responsibility, food safety (and quality), Law and order.

Lets just smash the system and start over. Yeehaw!

So you're happy paying higher taxes? That's cool and all but I'm not terribly keen on subsidizing the McCourts of the world or any other number of bullshit businesses and charities that are just lifestyle shells. Car "museums" that ar open to the public once a month are bogus.

Course you could have been using a stupid blanket statement.

There's a lovely irony in the Chinese and Indians protesting against environmental degradation, food un-safety and massive corruption while in the US the teatards protest for all of those.

It makes perfect sense, this kind of shit will continue to happen in general until all areas connected with free trade agreements equalize in standard of living.

To some people that think maximizing GDP = maximizing general welfare, it makes a lot of sense to attempt to compete with sweatshops and companies that dump industrial waste unrestricted into the environment. This is basically what Perry is attempting to do with Texas: http://www.dallasobserver.com/2011-0...uring-success/

There a way to fix this. I think it is already starting now. BUY AMERICAN. This will be hard on the economy in the short term, but sooner or later the Big Corperations will get the message that made in the USA is the selling point and the jobs will come back.
