    The Tytler Cycle

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
All I want is to be hardcore.

I think the Spiritual Faith part of that dandy graphic is where we are because I prayed to Jesus with Rick Perry the other day. Jesus will most definitely help this country out of its troubles now as He is not smart enough to realize he is being invoked and used for political gain...the crown of thorns cut deep into his cranium thereby affecting rational thought.

I'd say we're somewhere around selfishness and complacency. Conservatives = selfish ("don't take my medicare"). Liberals = complacent (minimal concern re: burgeoning debt).

I see the downfall happening when an entire generation has zero hope for the future, no opportunities. Education costs are jacked up to become unattainable, no jobs are available, ...
    kindof like England right now.

Don't you mean the Prentis cycle?

Tytler? Someone who died in the early 1800s probably isn't really qualified to comment on modern democracies. Even if he didn't actually comment in the manner ascribed to him.

Where are we on a circle? Half of you fuckers apparently can't wait for your messiah-rapture and seem intent on creating your own apocalypse (as long as it doesn't cost you any tax $s).

Everyone start listing out your helmet size so we can get an accurate read on who we should be listening to.

Ski helmet sizes are like women pant sizes.

My football-shaped head is too tight in a Giro size XXL, but a Smith size L is too big.

Somebody has a POC size XXL listed in Gear Swap, I may give that a try...
