Can someone describe how much tip rocker there is in the Praxis Freerides? Also, anyone else skied the 192s? Pretty stoked on the shape and build characteristics. Looking to possibly fit them in slot #2 in a 4 ski quiver.

Yeah I saw that - I guess I was having a tough time visualizing that vs. other skis (say my megawatts). I Know you ski these - any chance you have a profile pic laying around?

Thanks for the stoke. I skied my OG Camoboards this weekend at Mammoth after having skied Lhasa Pows in powder at Whistler a few weeks ago. Obviously, the Lhasas are a better overall ski and are more confidence-inspiring on steep windswept areas, but I was amazed at how much better the Powderboards are in pure powder. In my opinion, it isn't even close.

In the end, the Praxis had me skiing way faster and more aggressively than the Lhasas. Of course, I was skiing on 2-3 feet of powder with no base, so eventually, that extra speed resulted in a pretty wild crash over cliffs and straight into a boulder... I'm certainly not quite right, but the skis barely have any damage from the whole weekend. Compare that to the Lhasas, whose edges are totally shredded after a considerably less rocky time at Whistler. Everyone knows PM Gear makes durable stuff, so that puts Praxis at probably the most durable of any ski in the world.

    Just amazing skis!

Just about to mount some Dukes on a Protest.
Anyone disagree with the mounting line?
    Do these need countersinking ?

    haydukelives,

I mounted mine on the line, I like them as is. Funnest pow ski I have tried, super stoked on them. I did a bit of a countersink with an over sized drill bit since the top sheet material seems pretty thick, not sure if its necessary or not.

I'm loving my Protest and Concepts. They are the only skis I'd ever need and if I had to choose one the Concept can do it all.

Keith just popped some sale pricing up on the Praxis site. That + any of the usual 10% coupons = the sickest ski value on the planet in my admittedly biased opinion.

There are still places with a whole lot of season left...

Finally got some more pow on my 187 Protest. Unreal ski and turn so fast and is super fun. That quick turning is essential this season with so many obstacles popping up with the thin cover we have.

I'm considering adding the 196 Protest for more confidence to rev up the Maching factor and for my upcoming AK trip. But I do have my old 195 Praxis Powders.

ok I come to you all looking for Praxis ski advice...bear with me

Planning on picking up a pair of skis soon. Looking for a ski that will tackle all conditions except deep pow (already got that covered). I'm 6'1, 185 lbs, fairly aggressive skier that likes small drops. I will be using this ski for touring, skiing down mountains in the bc and the occasional resort. I plan to mount it with dynaduke plates. I was planning on picking up a pair of 187 BRO fats (lhasa tip, traditional sidecut, 114 underfoot, ~4.2 lbs/ski) but want to see what Praxis ski would stack up as the most similar...

Essentially looking for a ski that fits this bill:
    -185-189 length
    - ~110mm waist
    -rocker/early rise tip
    -some camber underfoot
-traditional sidecut with a not flat tail but not too rockered/twin to wash out on firm/ice
    - ~8-9 lbs
    -r=25-32m

mountain jib seems a little too short/too much tail rocker
bc looks quite nice, just wish it was slightly wider
    maybe the RX?

    thanks for any help/input

With the exception of the 110 waist, your bullet points are essentially describing the Backcountry.

Splat's got so many variants going right now I've lost track. How is the 187 fat different from the 186 Lhasa? (aside from 1 cm longer )

In an email to me, Keith at Praxis said he would consider making the 188 MTN Jib again this summer, if enough people were interested. He also mentioned a minor overhaul on the design.

Hopefully more people will respond positively to the production of the 188.

So this landed in my inbox...

Taking advantage of the hand that mother nature deals us, this year's focus on testing and product development has shifted over to the development of All Mountain and Freeride skis; the "one ski quiver" skis. It's been a great year in Tahoe for development of skis with better edge hold, dialing in the sidecut and dampening the ride. This year is all about putting a ski on edge and going fast, or slowing it down and billy goat'n down some low tide line you didn't even know existed last year. We look forward to releasing the next evolution of Praxis Skis in these departments. Expect to see the first sub 100 mm underfoot ski from Praxis Skis.
    Anyone know any specifics?
