You sure it wasn't a hairy dude and a mellow dog?
Reserving my spot in an epic tr even if it was only epic to us 3.
It's your tr and tale to tell. So I'll withhold my version.
As soon as your done with todays work of designing cool fishin toys, figureing out ways to bring more manufacturing jobs to VT/USA, and changing Orvis percieved oldschool stuffy brand image to reflect todays hip new fish bum I expect the telling of the tale to commence.
I will say though in the journey of gaining flyfishing knowledge and skill that takes a lifetime any good stick should be able to learn something from another good stick they have the pleasure of fishing with and I thank you for sharing so much knowledge. I hope it was at least slightly reciprical on your end.

    Dude Im always skunked
It helps my casting and rowing, and fishing, and cooking and storytelling and it sure as hell helped when the 4:20 alarm went off after 4 hours of sleep to hit the water before 6
Im givin him another day and then I guess Ill tell the tale, but L8apx is a hell of a lot more edjumacated, writes much better, takes way better photos, and is better looking than I

I got sucked into "what you just got back from UT, and are flying to New Orleans next week to chase reds. Go make some new fishing shit!" So here it is, hope it meets expectations.

SFB picks me up at OR in SLC. Upon first meeting, I knew the power of the maggots has struck again. Super cool laid back guy that is going to show me around his waters = just my style. We hit the road headed to the B section of the Green.
    Here is our ride

here is my room with a view for the next few

Here is the dude with the mellow that will take you to the fish

Here is his guide, that worked shit out. So long as you rub that head on the way into the boat.

So a minute on the river and we were rippin streamers with luck which motivated me to tie some more junk at dinner.
Called this one the dinner bell.

    and this one the baconator!

We set off the next two days catching some of the nicest 17-20" bows and browns.

the next morning we got up at 4:20 ( SFB set the alarm) and caught the before the sun hits the water streamer bite, which if you haven't done that before, set your clock now and ring the dinner bell.

    Earlier risers deliver

Once the sun came up we tied the lucky foot on to keep em coming.

all in all a fantastic trip which was harder to capture in words than one could imagine. So I hope you can fill in your own stories and laugh as hard as we did.

Oh shit you guys thought I was going to not post a pic of the hairy dog that made all the fish come to boat.

The coolest dog on the water

Wish I was there. Love that section!

L8 - If you can work a trip to the SLC OR and then down to fish reds, you have no excuse to not come to the summit.

I got that maggot baconator fly going into umpqua for a pattern patent.
    Im gonna be famous bro
Im out the door to a kids casting clinic over in heber, but my best memory of the trip.
Were on the water @ six and trying to anchor up and double up and it aint happening so we start floating. I give L8apx the pick a number tween 1-10 he goes with 7. Alright after you put 7 in the boat you row. So we float down and hes gettin some good eats and rackin em up. Just before washboard rapid hes got #7 up to the boat not one second after I told him dont you go roll casting him off, the long distance release occours. We come out of wash board and he says screw #7 Ill row 2 seconds before Mr. nice Bow chomps the dinner bell for breakfast.
Had a blast and hope to do it again. Bring Maggie and TC next time

my quote key no workie no more
    but Im rollin old school
and starting w/ a bum quote
I would not advise anyone who wishes to stand well with society to utter a word about his propensity for flyfishing- William Scrope, Days and nights of salmon fishing (1843)

Pistcator. I know a Trout taken with a Flie of your own making will please you better than twenty with one of mine- Charles Cotton, Part II of the Compleat angler (1676)

"Unless one can enjoy himself fishing with the fly, even when his efforts are unrewarded, he loses much real pleasure. More than half the intense enjoyment of fly-fishing is derived from the beautiful surroundings, the satisfaction felt from being in the open air, the new lease of life secured thereby, and the many, many pleasant recollections of all one has seen, heard and done."- Charles F Orvis (1886)
FKNA that guy gets it. What ever became of him?

Viator. I see well that angling is neither an occupation nor a craft but an art, and not without some skill - William Samuel- The Arte of Angling (1577)

Blessed are those with skill and the ability to make their love a vocation.
Fishing w/ dudes like you ignites the desire to guide again pay my dues deal with the never evers, thee fun suckin river ran through it fishcounters who think its a carnival ride and you pay the $$$ and magically the fish at the end of the line appears or a 13 fish day trumps a 12
Not be so gosh darn mellow that after the 57th you need to mend and when that thing a ma bobber goes upstream thats a fish, I continue to hound you and subject myself to crashing on the ground or a couch while trying to hang with all night hard partying young guides.

Cant find the exact author but they say No man ever steps into the same river twice for the river always changes and he is never the same man.
I look forward to your return to what I call my home waters. Just so happens Im hostin the next years fishin summit at that big pine camp and I hope youll be there.
Ill try and add somemore thoughts and such tonight.

Great pics. The Green actually looks clear. How fast was it flowing. Kessler looking like he wants a cutthroat.

Thats an old pic Im not gonna make a visiting mag waste fishin time for nature hikes
shop sign said flows were 2425 ish the boat was high and dry every morn It must drop a k overnight and crank back up about the time we got up that morning The water push probly hit us ~ 10 in pugs pocket. The evening /daylight streamer bite was pretty slow well more frustrating than slow plenty of follows and bumps but not a huge commiment to gobble. Fuck we anchored up in MN flats and i went 1 for20somethin pretty much a bump every float.
We nymphed a few up for shits and giggles and the good caddis hatch was a 11-1 thing so we got a few sippin. L8apx grew up a bass fisherman and must love the tug as much as I as he/we threw various streamers most of the time. I was confused as to when his flight out was and wished we had stopped at the Jarvis Ranch and snapped some pics. Cool homestead muesum if youve never been or stopped.
Stoked Kessler was pretty good demoted to silverstar for gettin oc and coming into the front of the boat 1st fish both mornings but if the kid wasnt so fkna stoked about the hooking and catching of the fishes Id consider leaving him home and he earned a ticket to the fishin summit mostly cause it made and extended my hall pass easier
Ill end with one more quote
God damn it I need 3 of you piss poor excuses for humanity to fuckin sober up or at least appear capable of passing as guides to get moving and pick up these trips - Dennis Breer -cica 8 am summer 2006, upon entering the guide all night holdem party disaster house looking to cover trips

While I refuse to actively partake in the circle jerk fratfuck they turned the forums into I love the Ebisu shot and think it and the rabbits foot shot are stellar and would fit well in the fridays joy through pics thread can I or send AKPM over to cross post them want l8apx photo credit? or maggot mcboogerchucker? or fuck those drakeheads they dont deserve them?

Certainly nothing against TB or the mag but I don't post much of anything over there anymore either. The "Friday" stoke thread is good and I try to add every other month or so. The "alt country" thread is quality shit too. Good to see there is a little less offensive, ( to some), newbie hazing though.

If I took pics I'd be posting them right the fuck here!
