    The New Yeti Cometh

A new SB-66 is sitting next to me and we're about to head over to the Canyons for some lift-serviced fun. Will be reporting back shortly.

Pic is the stock bike. I'm going to ride it today pretty much stock enduro build from Yeti (swapped in some XO shifters and a new post and saddle. Changes coming in the next week or so are Stan's Flow wheelset, WTB Bronson 2.3's, new bar & stem (I was surprised at how heavy the Stylo junk is). Longer term, I'm going to find some beefier cranks as well.

I am looking forward to both the report on the bike, and the new trail at the Canyons.
    Keep it unclipped

Quick TR on the new Canyons stuff: the "flow" trail is really, really short right now. Probably 6 banked turns, a medium sized table top, a few whoops and that's about it. The "skills park" is also super tiny. I rode the flow track about 4 times waiting for some friends to arrive and then we ended up climbing up to Ambush and doing that - it was far more fun than the lift serviced offerings at The Canyons. They are installing some significantly bigger stuff down lower that should about double the length of the track and I could see the appeal when that happens. Lifty told me that should be this weekend or early next week.

So the short story is don't waste your dollars (yet) unless you are already a passholder, but do drop in and check it out if you're riding on mid mountain and want to give it a run. You can pedal to the top of the flow track in less time than the lift takes.

I will post some pics later tonight of everything.

I was a bit curios when they said that the High Meadow lift was servicing the bike trails. It a short slow speed lift. I'm hoping that it's a predecessor to some trails that start at the top of Saddleback.

Drenchman you got the color I wanted.... but they told me I risked getting no bike this year if I didn't take the green one.

Ya, the green one is crap. Send it my way, and I guess I'll just deal with that POS.

Oh, I'm jealous. My frame was supposed to hit the shop this week and instead is delayed until September. At this rate I'll be skiing before the bike gets built up.

Well, at least its a start? Does anyone know if its a lack of rider influenced design or just time constraints for this season?

saw some pictures from whatever the trail under the lift is when i was down at goride today. the line looked pretty money and the guys there were stoked, leading me to believe it has promise. that and the rumor going around that they're going to put a bigger, better lift in before long that adds a couple K of vert. sounds good to me, i'll be up there checkin it out tomorrow. wunder that bike is sick, love that color! rode one the other day at dealer camp and had a fuckin riot on it.

Actually, they are more like fighter jet turns. I loved those, pretending I was in my F-16. But ya, I agree, it was way short, but should be getting longer.

Also, being able to hit Robs/Ambush and Interceptor (? The one with the steep, loamy turns and a bunch of mini jumps, whats that called?) from a lift and then shuttling up to the Crest for an evening ride made for a very memorable day.

Sick bike man. Can't wait to hear a review.

too much chatter about a resort I am never going to ride, not enough chatter about the bike (that I am probably also never going to ride ).

Yeah, the bike park is pretty lame so far, has potential. What is great are all the awesome trails that already exist in that area off Mid-Mountain that provide a better ride than just the park there.

posting a review in its own thread for posterity sake - so that it is more discoverable. I wouldn't call yesterday's ride a shit choice - it was better than what you would get anywhere near most other places I have lived (East Coast, Texas, Midwest). But the good part of the ride was what we did on our own, not what was lift accessed.

Next week I'm doing the 45 mile singletrack commute to work from SLC to Park City over Big Mountain - so I"ll have a proper climbing tale to tell. I'm also headed to American Fork canyon this weekend.... so more will be added to this review once I get to suffer a bit on the bike.

Blah blah I'm not saying that I have lived near to every rad spot on the east coast... just that I think it would be a bit dumb for anyone to complain that the ONLY get to ride Park City for a first ride on a new bike...
