Secret Wire Taps Rock DOJ.
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/issa...-applications/
Some of the important highlights from Issa’s letter:
•The financial details of four suspected straw purchases showed they had made $373,000 in gun purchases in cash but had nearly no reportable income from past year.
•The applications detailed how many guns specific suspects had bought from straw purchasers
•Wiretap Applications reveal ATF agents did not interdict guns when possible.
•“Although ATF was aware of these facts, no one was arrested, and ATF failed to even approach the straw purchasers.”
•The wiretap applications were signed by senior DOJ officials
•Holder has refused to address the documents.Last edited by Downbound Train; 06-29-2012 at 03:33 PM.

The exact same thing can be said about "Wide Receiver" and the other gun-walking programs under Bush.
Nobody is arguing against these being stupid programs, but come on - saying it was OK 5 years ago but not 3 years ago is a stretch and a half.
Are you saying that Holder had a moral/legal obligation to stop all programs started under his predecessors? I might actually agree with that, considering my... esteem... for Alberto Gonzales.Last edited by Tippster; 06-29-2012 at 05:49 PM.

"Contrary to more Democrat lies, there was no program to dump thousands of untraceable guns in Mexico under George W. Bush. The Bush administration did have a program that put GPS trackers on about 100 guns in order to actually trace them. That operation was ended almost as soon as it began because of the lack of cooperation from Mexican officials."
And the rest of the story....

Fast and Furious was started in 2009 under Obama.
Operation Wide Receiver(which was started under Bush) was stopped as soon as it became obvious that they were not going to be able to keep track of the guns. In contrast, Fast and Furious was allowed to continue even after the guns disappeared across the border in hopes(per the CBS article I linked to earlier) of discovering the distribution channels within Mexico. This seems to stretch credulity since the only way of tracking the guns is by recovering them from crime scenes and running the serial numbers, but that is what CBS is reporting. If true then an investigation doesn't seem unwarranted.
I heard an interview with Issa yesterday, the reason he wants the wiretap documents is that Holder testified, under oath, in front of Isaa's committee that neither he nor any senior official in his agency knowingly allowed guns to walk across the border and they were unaware that this had occurred until very recently. The problem with this is that in order to get a wiretap authorized by a judge the methods used in the investigation up to that point have to be laid out in the request and it had to be signed off on by a senior official.
If the gun walking was included in the wiretap requests as it should have been then Holder lied to Issa's committee.
Issa claims to know what is contained in those wiretap requests, the information coming from leaks and whistle blowers, which is why he is so adamant about getting them into the official record. Now Obama has stepped in and exerted executive privilege to prevent those documents from being submitted to Issa's committee. This appears to be a politically motivated delaying tactic by Obama. Now everything has to go through the court system to be resolved and any meaningful resolution of the executive privilege claim will be pushed beyond the elections in November.
At the very least Holder doesn't know what is going on in his own agency and is trying to hide that fact, at worst he has committed perjury and is obstructing a congressional investigation.it's all young and fun and skiing and then one day you login and it's relationship advice, gomer glacier tours and geezers.

Ann Coulter.... to fucking funny.
Try this.
Among these misconceptions being repeated: that no Wide Receiver guns “walked” to Mexico because they were all controlled deliveries; that no one was killed; that the Mexican government was fully informed; that RFID tracking devices were placed in all the guns; and that the program was shut down at the first sign of danger.
