It's too bad Velogames doesn't have a system like in Baseball were you can send someone to the DL then use that salary to pick-up an active rider.

If I join one of those goofy fantasy bike things, can I bet on shit like contador literally pissing himself in anger in mid tantrum? I don't care about this fantasy team stuff but that kind of thing would make me play. Hell I live a half mile from nevada, I bet I could go put some money on something like that in a casino.Besides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp

I don't think Contador even has a team working for him anymore. He crashes and 2 guys drop back when he's 50m from the pack. There's a chase on for a rider building a new lead for yellow and he's alone near the front doing squat. Right from the TT when he was accelerating and ditching guys early on I think he's pissed off his team. That and I guess they're tired of dragging his ass back from crashes. Apparently Karpets isn't a fan either.
That fucking team car was coming fast to pass on a narrow road apparently not looking at the tree coming ahead. So he sees the tree and instead of the brakes to let the riders by he does the easy thing and just slams the riders out of the way. I was hoping to see riders and support team drag the guy from the car at the finish and kick the shit out of him. All the team cars are small for a reason and that tool is cranking in a big fucking sedan.
That crash on the descent must have been insane. Way too much carnage this year. It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

Well ... let's look at Berto's Saxo team.
It's well known that when he signs with a team that he insists that the team also sign some of his friends (i.e. support) for his grand tour bids. These are wispy climber types that will be generally invisible on flat or even rolling stages.
Alberto Contador (Spain) - The Chosen one
Jesus Hernandez (Spain) - 85 lbs
Daniel Navarro (Spain) - 91 lbs
Benjamin Noval (Spain) - 76 lbs
Chris Anker Sørensen (Denmark) - sponsors choice
Richie Porte (Australia) - animal, all 'rounder when on form
Matteo Tosatto (Italy) - Oh yea, maybe we should have a sprinter
Brian Vandborg (Denmark) - sponsors choice
Nicki Sørensen (Denmark) - sponsors choice
So 'berto will get all the support he needs starting this week.

Holy crap! Hadn't seen that photo.
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

I time trialed against him once in a local Durango Wheel Club event. Now, I am hack, but he put ten minutes on me in seven miles up Coal Bank Pass. I was at redline and he blew by me like I was standing still, not even breathing hard and still in the saddle. Pretty impressive to this guy.
Well Danielson and Vende Velde are 17th and 18th respectively for the GC, a little over four minutes out and only 40 seconds apart, with Danielson being the highest placed Garmin rider. Looks like Hushovd is definitely out, though he made a strong effort. I gotta pull for Danielson, he's a climbing specialist, a hell of a nice guy, and it would be a huge coup for him to place well in his first TDF. He's also running about 20 lbs lighter than Vende Velde which could be a huge advantage. Vande Velde's also a climbing specialist and obviously has a lot more experience and history with the team. Tough to say who's gonna be pulling who in the Pyrenees. I'll be happy either way. They seem to have worked well together in other races and have a good rapport. If Danielson played a major role in a high placement or a win, it would still be huge for him. Stoked for the rest of the race!Last edited by beaterdit; 07-12-2011 at 08:51 AM.

Vino approves of the morphine at the hospital.
But seriously, cycling will miss him. Say what you will about the doping, but any race he was entered in had the potential for Vino to blow up by attacking at almost any point. My favorite memory has to be 05 Tour when he attacked with 75 km out for a time bonus, then followed that up by winning the stage in Paris.

damn, I thought Gilbert was going to take it today, fried himself too early. Only two more stages until the show begins on Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden. First time back to the Ardiden since 03 and this infamous stage:
Last day for the sprinters tomorrow

Agreed - Vino make road racing very interesting, on several levels. Most of his attacks left me thinking "WTF" but he was successful more often than I would have expected. Too bad people will remember him more for blood packing than this year's TdF - he was a strong competitor

If you don't think cars hitting cyclists is funny and have a minute. Read this and decide for yourself if it's worth sending ESPN a message telling them what you think. The ESPN show Around the Horn spent a segment sharing a laugh over the press car hitting Flecha and Hoogerland. I don't think cars hitting cyclists is funny, not one bit.

I thought Voeckler would manage to hang on to the yellow today. Probably tomorrow as well. Might keep it on Saturday as well if he can ride like he did today.
