Mogul ski's Vs All Mountian Ski's

Hey, I'm doing a mogul program this year and I was wondering why I should buy a mogul ski over an all mountain ski.
What are the advantages? Why is a mogul ski better? faster to respond, shorter radius etc...

Also, I was wondering what I should look for in a mogul ski. Stiff Vs. soft, long Vs. Short, thick underfoot Vs. Thin underfoot etc..

    cheers,
    Will

there's really no difference. I find that my K2 Pontoons do just fine in the moguls, plus I dont have to worry about going over the handlebars if it ends up snowing a lot and wrecking my sweet ass bump lines.

if you ski the whole mountain enough, mogul's () will start to form on the whole moutain.

thus making your mogul ski an all mountain ski.

Also, any ski you ski in the moguls is by association a mogul ski.

FWIW mogul skis are pretty much useless in any other condition. If you can't ski something with an 80mm or wider waist in moguls, you're doing it wrong.

Of course if money is no object, get the mogul ski. The fact that you're enrolled in a mogul program would seem to indicate that money is no object.

Remember the good old days when you bought a pair of straight 200 or so cm slalom or GS skis on clearance, skied them every day of the season in every condition and threw them in a dumpster at the end of the year?

I miss those simpler times, although the 20 mile walk to school in a blizzard every day was kind of a drag...

Come on guys, he's asking a question, no reason to put him down.
Moguls are a lot different today than 10 years ago because the skis are wider.so if you want to ski the skier made bumps you dont need mogul skis, even though when it's firm they would be blast.
If you're going to ski machine made bumps, for comps, you definitely need a mogul ski, narrow, without a lot of sidecut.

Where do they store them in the summer?
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

The thing that I always get hung up when choosing mogul skis is whether to go rocker or stick with camber. Rocker sure seems like it would excel in the troughs, but when I'm on top of the bumps, camber definitely keeps more ski on the snow. If I get a rockered ski, is it possible to find moguls with just troughs??

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture, but I saw a pair of Hart f17's mounted with Dukes this past winter up at the Big K while there was a mogul comp going on. I waited around for a while just to catch a glimpse of the genius those belonged to, but then gave up.
