Hadley hub axle conversion problem...experienced mechs help!
Long story short I was in the process of rebuilding a Hadley hub (new bearings) and converting it from 12mm to 10mm. Bearing replacement went semi smoothly but changing the end caps is not happening.
Its like the threads are slightly different pitch/diameter and no mater what I do, I can not thread the new end caps (10mm) onto the main axle. (12mm thread just fine)
Has anyone seen this? If I order a new "main axle" (can I do this?) will that fix it?
This is super bothersome!!

I ran into the same problem once. I just forced them on. The threads on the newer caps didn't seem to be chased as deeply or something.
I'm not saying you should do what I did, but it worked for me and both sizes of cap thread on fine now.STRAVA: Enabling dorks everywhere to get trails shut down........ all for the sake of a race on the internet.

Yeah the threads changed. I seem to remember Hadley sending me a new axle at no charge.
i had thought the pitch changed but from the woo-post it sounds like the pitch was the same. ?

I tried the force thing...no dice (and now my end caps look like shit!)
Guess I need to get in touch with them. What's their website again?
(seriously, what is their number?)

I just found some thread on ridemonkey or some other board stating they did in fact change the threads completely. For sure the problem. Fack!

On the plus side; the people at Hadley are great to deal with. A real family business type vibe.
Just call them. I'm sure they'll take care of you.

Hadley rocks. Unreal customer service. Despite the fact they have no website, I think they are one of the best bike cos I've ever dealt with.
