This Gimme Shelter cover is awesome

    From the Playing for Change
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

That song (including the orginal) is so amazing. Every time I hear it, I'm reminded of the potential of music and wonder what other masterpieces have yet to be discovered.

    Why yes it is indeed.
The blues has always been about taking your problems and turning them into something you can dance to, drink to and fuck to.
We're certainly not a blues band in any kind of purest sense, but to me Rock and Roll has always had it's roots in that tradition.

Education must be the answer, we've tried ignorance and it doesn't work! Wait, nevermind, when you see a liberal using science to advance an idea...grab your wallet and your freedom and run.

I wanted to bump this thread up in the name of a little self promotion. I know the PFC Crew well - and even got to hang with them at Jazz Fest (see my TR here)

Since May, my company HiDef has been working on a new site for Playing For Change Day - A single day event to promote the Playing For Change's cause and mission. It integrates with your Facebook account and I invite any musicians out there to pledge to play a show on September 17th and join the movement!

thanks (and sorry for the Spam)
