wait, is this like the opposite of the wasatch conditions thread, so there's absolutely no talk of touring in this thread, bird only? if so i'll just continue posting in the wasatch thread.

I seen slagg around a couple times. Havent skied up to introduce myself yet as we're like two ships passing in the night most times. I did see him sporting his helmet just like he said he would in some thread last week..
Anyway next time I see you ill stop and say hi.

Hey Slaag, did you offer us some wine during a ski-thru at the Umbrella last weekend?
If so, thanks and sorry we had to decline. I remember hearing something about not mixing the grain and the grape.
see you all again this weekend

fyi, the bird is closed to uphill traffic (and downhill for those of you coming in from alta). There will be control work in progress throughout the day.
fwiw, by around 2pm there was ~26" + in the upper elevations of LCC.

^^Seeing all this stoke from the states makes the short ass season I had in the Alps really depressing!!! I have been in the Skatepark since early May. It snowed above 1300 the other day and last week on zero base so it has been pretty pointless round here. Still great to hear about the insane amounts of snow that has fallen pretty much every where out west. And its not even corn season for you guys yet. Insane!!!

yeah that's why i've been using 110's despite being 6'2 without straps the last couple years, it's always on falls where i'm going forward though (had my skins on once, hit a wind drift going down, cat track today). sucks.

holy canole - the nws just upgraded our weather to a snow advisory - 25"-35" by early saturday - maybe we should start a betting pool on snowfall totals for the season - 800"+? - and on chance to see a state street river twice in my life!!!!!!!!

It's not the poles. You have to totally rethink the way you crash. When you feel that you are going down, you have to tuck your arms in toward your body. If you try to use your arms with them outstretched to help "shield" your crash it's going to pop out because your outstretched arm is like a lever with no solid anchor, if that makes sense. Worked for me so far and both my shoulders are torched!
