AK Trip: 2 ski options (Coomba vs. LL2)

In one week, I've got a trip to the Pika & Ruth Glacier's for some leg powered skiing.

I've got some beat to shit 188 coombas w/ dynafit that have been my go-to BC ski for a solid 2 years. I've done plenty of touring on them - but a year back I put a mean crease in the top sheet of one of the skis tips. It's not the worst thing ever - but it's there... and I can't really tell if or when it'll get worse.

I've also got a pair of 189 Surface LL2 that are currently mounted with 914s.

I'm debating pulling the 914s off and slapping a pair of sollyfit plates on them. My skins fit the LL2 - so it'd just be moving to a slightly heavier ski w/ massive rocker.

Clearly that much rocker has benefits in shitty punchy show - but also doesn't skin as well when 40% of the skin isn't touching the ground.

    Thoughts?

Take em both or at least a backup pair for the group.
Sloggin around on the Ruth I'd go as light as possible with dynas and coombas.

No 120s for this guy... I WISH!

I guess tossing the extra's with plates would only be an extra 10-11 pounds.

That's awesome wedigo - I'm a 316!! That would be friggen awesome. Also avoiding putting my skis into cargo would be one less chunk of coin.

    So.... Wendigo = Ben?

I have skins as well. Plus I get the bonus of giving you my other skis if it dumps.

BWHAHAHAHAHAH. I'm going to just stay at camp and smoke dope and listen to Bob Marley. Speaking of which, who's smuggling the AK-47?

    ;-)

I can ski busted 188 coombas in Colorado Glop. I fear no ski.

Goddamnit, I've been listening to him moan about his ski situation for weeks now. It was 100% entertainment and then you go and solve his problem for him.

I am so pissed, I wanted to spend 5 hours on the plane listening to him whine about whether he made the right decision or not! And then wondering when he was going to snap another heel pin.

I have been robbed of endless entertainment!

Eric Shipton could plan an entire Himalayan expedition on the back of a cocktail napkin over a glass of gin and bitters. Now Jason needs to wring his hands for weeks over which ski rig to bring. WTF has society come to?
