Dantheman and I will be heading down Friday morning with our little guy Sam (he's 20 months)
We'll be camping in Sand Flats with a couple other folks, but would love to meet up at some point. Maybe not for riding since you all have such a huge group, but around camp or in town would be fun.
DTM will be riding Saturday while I hike and play with the little guy, then I'll be riding Sunday somewhere.
    Hope you guys have fun!

You guys should drop our camp at Goose Island sat night for the party and some Enchiladas.

Can't find anyone to watch my dogs. Anyone have any experience with boarding them down there?

looks like I'll be bringing mine along again and boarding him as well so we can run up there together before and after the ride. I used Desert Doggie but Karen's Canine Campground is a lot shorter drive, will call them both this morning and see about availability. Also my buddy #24 on the list just bailed (I don't think he sent his $15 but I'm good for it if you're short on camping fees)

Sam- I spaced on getting you cash. Sorry, I haven't been in SLC since, oh, June; therefore pretty disconnected from life right now. Anyway, you'll have it tomorrow.

Regarding dogs, I've maxed out my dog-watchers with the amount I've traveled for work lately. So...my plan was to doggie daycare mine Saturday and then do an alpiney doggie ride on Sunday (thinking Moonlight Meadows).

I'll for sure get in touch with you guys at some point. After DTM rides on Saturday, going to do a late lunch in town, so I'll text you from there. Probably around 3pm. Check your PMs.

I decided to drive down because I'll need to leave later then most and will probably (depending on how fucked up I feel) leave earlier on sunday morning (school can be a bitch). I'll probably be leaving around 4:00 or so on Friday. If there is anyone who can't find a ride because they also have to leave later, PM me. I have room for two more people and their bikes.

Enchiladafest is upon us! Stoke level is rising!

OK so a couple tips from last year:

Each person should bring at least two extra tubes on the ride, more if you're actually using tubes.

Bring more water than you think you'll need, >3L.

Plan your enchilada meals, prepping/heating them up can be challenging for the uninitiated.

Can't think of anything else right now but I'm going down early and staying late if anyone else is off and wants to ride, give me a buzz.

Fuck enchiladas, I decided to make Cochinita Pibil:

    Ingredients

    Good Mexican beer

    And plenty of it

    Juicing the limes

    Banana leaves

3 pound bone-in pork shoulder roast, cut fresh <30 minutes before this was taken

Into the slow cooker, lined with the leaves

Achiote (anatto seeds), cumin seeds, garlic, and seasoned salt getting ready to be ground

Combine with lime juice for the marinade

Smothered the meat with the marinade and diced white onion (plus a little water)

    Wrap it up

Cook on high for 6 hours

    Pickled onions

Served on corn tortillas with habanero hot sauce, cotija, and pickled onions

At camp I'll put it all in a pot and heat it so the juices reduce and concentrate the flavors. Last time I made this it absolutely ruled. I changed a few things from last time, but it should only make it better.

    EDIT: pics of finished product

    See you on friday

Looks like you guys had an awesome ride on Saturday.
Glad we could at least stop by camp when you guys were done. Too bad our little guy Sam wasn't super into so many new people around, otherwise we would have stayed for some eats!
I hope you guys do this again so I can ride with all of you

Woah. SHort bus with trailer up Geyser Pass. Sporting!

Crazy that the aspens haven't fully popped in the La Sals yet. I may have to make next weekend happen.

Oh you can count on that!

flowtrons ghost the aspens were more brilliant this year than they were last year. Or maybe the cloud cover just made them look better.

    Goddam beautiful!

For real, the section the trail actually went through was fully colored and just gorgeous. It was a fast fire road though, so I didn't manage to snap a pic of it, which is kind of a shame.
