Got a set of flexons, any chance on a how to or should I just get work? Did you use the maestral toe/heel? I was thinking of using the tecnica agent bc pads. Any advice is appreciated.

Even with dynafit boots, this is still tempting. I know the boot I want is impossible so maybe I need more than 2?

Cool thread. I love all the innovative stuff that people come up with and just do. Good work.

I agree with the guy who said Dalbello. I have skied in Kryptons for a few seasons. I flew to Jackson last Feb. and the airline lost my bag with my touring boots (Scarpa). (Duh, carried them on, I know.) I had my Kryptons and a pair of skis with F10 Tours. I skied the whole week, thousands of feet of vert, in the Kryptons and it was fine. Bit bit heavy, but comfortable with no walk mode. Like Blurred said, the main plus is that they are high and stiff.

Those don't look like the BD toe plates. Have you done this mod? If not, thanks for the advice, but no thanks.

I bought the toe/heel pieces from the local mountaineering store....new out of the bag from Black Diamond.

I also went back and replaced the nuts inside the boot with metal inserts that are lighter and are depressed into the boot shell just like the stock ones used for the the boot around the ankle.

I've been super busy and not had a chance to collect all of the pics to put together a how-to, but I will soon.

Blurred, this is awesome. Just curious, what was the net weight change between the stock boots and the tech mod? FTs are light to begin with so it was probably an acceptable addition, I'm sure.

I emailed it to the rep... he said they have an AT boot in the making but he didn't know many details.

I asked him about tech fittings and he said he doubted it... Lets keep our fingers crossed.

There certainly is enough evidence out there to support this statement.
However, knowing something first hand about the people involved, I would venture to say that there is room for optimism.

I fuckin' love this. Seriously considering a home mod--I fell in love with full tilts and have thought they'd be a totally fine AT boot. Lightweight, relatively upright (at least how I run them), and I dig the ultra-low volume fit. Post the how-to!

Dalbello Virus = tech compatible from the gate.

Not a perfect boot, but they didn't ignore the tech crowd. Let's give credit where it's due.

What a cool thread! I agree with Blurred on the cuff height issue. Most boots are made for little sawed off people. My next boot purchase will take into account the fact that I'm 6.4 and need the taller boot. Blurred, you may find that having a walk mode will save you some energy on the whole.
