I want a new electric guitar. B.C. Rich, Reverend, or ???

I currently play a Danelectro Innuendo w/ Seymour Duncans and a B.C. Rich Mockingbird through a 1971 Ampeg VT-40. Music style = dirty crunchy heavy rock a la Motorhead, Fu Manchu, The Sword, The Hellacopters, Backyard Babies, etc.

The B.C. Rich has a Floyd Rose which IMO is a giant piece of shit and makes the guitar virtually unplayable. The Dano rocks, but it needs a stablemate.

My plan is to sell/trade the B.C. Rich for something new.

Current realistic dream options include the B.C. Rich Mockingbird Special X, B.C. Rich Eagle Classic Deluxe, and the Reverend Sensei HB-FM.

What other options are there for non-Fender, non-Gibson humbucker guitars in the $500 - $1000 range?

    Paul Stanley in the house!

If I had a few thousand to spare, I'd have Ed Roman make me one of these:

Go acoustic and get a Gibson J-200

    OR possibly a 1937 Martin D28 !

But the J-200 has a deeper sound to it. Not all a fan of the non-j-200 Gibsons, though. In other models, I think the Martins seem better made....even my little travel Martin Backpacker (all solids, no laminates and totally solid rosewood and mahogany neck).

For a budget well-made acoustic: Seagull S-6 ...handmade solid cedar top handcrafted in Quebec.

Cool thing about acoustic is that they're always ready to play...no amps needed...nor 'lectricity.

And you can always add a pick-up to the soundbox to any acoustic for it to become an acoustic/electric.

I have a Seagull S6+ spruce top (not a fan of cedar unless I'm fingerpicking, which I'm not...) that's been sitting in a case for years. I play it approximately five minutes a year. My go-to acoustic is my Martin Backpacker w/ pickup but those are made in MX by McNally.

The Ampeg is awesome. So loud and dirty by itself and then I add a Boss DS-1 and it gets just plain mean!

No progress on the new axe quest. I had the Mockingbird shipped up so I'm going to try that out again for a while before committing to anything.

What are people's takes on "Nato" wood for electrics? Seems like it's pretty ghetto.

The options look good but the body styles don't do it for me. That V is close though!

nice. im a big fan of the ds-1 especially when pushed by a tube screamer or some type of boost in front of it.

my step dad is a electronics geek and just last week we modded a germanium boost pedal that a friend made for me. it sounds sick. im going to make a couple for some friends if you have any interest let me know ill do it for cost of the parts (thinking about $25). if you dont like it just send it back. they are super solid in a hammond case, on/off switch a hi/mid switch all tru-bypass, 9v jack, battery or both.

Oooh, just picked up a DS-2 Turbo Distortion. I dig the foot-switchable modes. DS-1 is now obsolete.

Boss DS-1. Shit, after playing the DS-1 and DS-2 back to back tonight I think I've decided that the Ampeg sounds best w/o either due to epic amounts of feedback (maybe it's our practice room setup?). Still, that DS-2 is pretty cool with the footswitch.

BTW, anyone want to buy a B.C. Rich Mockingbird?

im talking about the color of the label on the bottom, the older made in japan ones with a black label sound much better than the new ones. i loaned my black label to a friend to record with and he left it in the studio, it vanished before i could get it back. still pissed about that. cobain used the ds-1 on nevermind.

tube amps love to be pushed-> have you tried pushing it with a overdrive pedal like a ibanez tube screamer?

Haven't tried a tube screamer because I haven't found one cheap enough, but I've heard good things. Both my DS-1 pedals (went from 0 - 2 in two days) are made in Taiwan. Which tube screamer should I be looking for? TS9? TS9dx? 808?

We're playing again at Chair 9 tonight. Woot! Last Friday we had a serious Spinal Tap moment when the drum set collapsed mid-song. Twice. Good times!

if you can find a TS-808, TS5, TS-9 or a TS10 for cheap get it. these all have very similar boards and if you can solder you can mod it to be top notch

Looking at guitars again. Still want to try a Reverend but they're hard to come by in my area.

Anyone played a Schecter Tempest Custom or have thoughts on Schecters in general? Kind of sort of the same style as the Rev. Sensei HB-FM.

    Looks like this:

I've got pictures of mine somewhere, probably on my other hard drive. Was thinking $600+ship, hard case included.
