Yelawolf
Well I just recently heard of him and search says he's never been mentioned here so I'm gonna go ahead and guess he's not too well known. So, as a PSA, check out Yelawolf. He is smart, funny and throws down at absolutely blistering speed while staying completely understandable. More than just understandable, he's bringing a lot to it. The coolest thing to come out of Gadsden, AL since pretty much ever, I guess. And stay away with the eminem comparisons, just because he's white doesn't make that right.
Real...
...funny...
... and spittin' style.
(audio only)
This guy is gonna be heard from.Last edited by iceman; 03-11-2011 at 09:19 AM.

and he just signed to shady records along with Slaughterhouse... Slaughterhouse with Eminem's backing is gonna be crazy. Royce and Em back together is going hopefully gonna produce some crazy stuff.

Iceman listens to a lot of different music no matter what he's wearing.

Damn, that grew on me. I didn't like it at first but I listened to all three of the songs a couple times, and yea they are pretty good.

I think this one has the best combo of blistering delivery and flow:
Also didn't realize that yelawolf is the guy featured on one of my favorite hiphop tracks lately, a Big Boi/Black Keys mash up. He starts at 1;30:

He is imaginative, he has skills, and he is coming real. Hopefully he'll keep all that if he gets huge and not fall apart under the pressure.

Yelawolf is dope.
Who knew iceman was really vanilla ice all this time, and he finally had us believing in the frozen caveman dude thing, whatever.

Aw yeah. Iceman definitely appreciates talent.
Glad this came up. Hes definitely top 2 in this years XXL Freshman lineup and rightly so.
Another one for ya'll to check is Cyhi da Prynce.
And although not on the Freshman list, check out Tyler the Creator. His new album is due this month.
This is Yonkers. Its dope and deserves your time so listen to it.

Interesting NYT article about caucasian rappers:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/15/ar...mage.html?_r=1
I scoped out all of the cats mentioned and definitely am vibing on Action Bronson the most, largely due to his beat co-ordination.
That said, the Cleveland kid Machine Gun Kelly is entertaining in a manic overdrive sort of way..."Man, we killin' elephants in the back yard..."

Strangely I first heard of Yelawolf reading an SI interview with Shaq. He named five fairly well known rappers then mentioned Yelawolf so I looked him up out of curiosity.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

Yelawolf really grew on me.
Didn't like it at all when I first heard it (in this thread).
Now I can't get enough.
Love this track:

^ditto.
wasn't feeling him so much back when this thread was kicked out; din't really vibe with his flow or the beats of many of the songs posted.
then, this evening, i went and dredged up Trunk Muzik and Stereo and gave 'em a listen and for some reason they resonated. Particularly enjoy his beat choices on Stereo, which revisits/reinterprets lots of classic rock and '80s new wave pop.
Datpiff that ish if you haven't yet."Man, we killin' elephants in the back yard..."

Love Trunk Muzik, Haven't listened to Stereo yet. I will DL it.
Been loving this shit:
Dude's talented.
Hopefully he gets past the overproduced nonsense that most of Radioactive is.

Sorry guys, sounds like rubbish to me. Rap laying over shitty synthetic music, just not my thing I guess...
