What are you getting them on? Skirted Ballyhoo's?
Can't wait to hit the blue water, the NE Canyons have nice slug of warm water but no chance of getting there right now

    Naked ballyhoo & circle hooks.

Typical spread has us pulling two teasers controlled from the bridge with electric teaser reels. Usually we have a squid daisy chain on one side, and a plug teaser on the other. We have naked ballyhoo with circle hooks on flat lines off the transom corners. They run just behind and inside the bridge teasers. On the long riggers we'll usually have another naked ballyhoo on one side, and a plug with a J-hook on the other side. The plug is on a 50-wide and is intended for a marlin. We also run another naked ballyhoo down the middle of the spread, with a release clip off the bridge hardtop. It is the farthest-back bait. We have a naked ballyhoo ready as a pitch bait for a teaser bite. The ballyhoo are all on TLD II-20s. We also have a large ballyhoo with a chugger head set up on a 50W as a marlin pitch bait.

If a sailfish comes up behind the plug with J-hook, we try to turn that into a teaser and get the fish to switch to the flat line ballyhoo. We'd rather not hook a sail on the J-hooked plug. Hookup ratio is crappy for a sailfish on the big plug, and we think retrieving the hook & plug is more traumatic for the fish than cutting them off with a little circle hook rig.
