Just talked to the Aikau's lawyer (my Uncle) who drove oup and watched the whole thing, so so stoked Uncle Clyde got to compete, too! Always nice to see the Eddie get won by a local boy. With a perfect score from all 5 judges, nonetheless.
My parents used to party with Eddie, Clyde, Mom and Pops and all of the rest of those guys at the Chinese graveyard on O`ahu back in the day before they moved to Lana`i. Although I wasn't born yet, it was so sad when Eddie disappeared. My folks spent hours and hours walking the beaches of Lana`i in the hopes they would see Eddie sauntering down the beach only to walk up to them, say "Ey, Rob, Sal, howzit?? Get one beah??" Too bad.
