Fresh snow down to 700m in Scotland. Certainly didn't feel like mid May up on Ben Nevis yesterday.
Had some great fun skiing a couple of the classic north face gully's (i.e couloirs) in winter condition.
The 600m long #5 gully is probably as aesthetic, and interesting, as any line I have skied in more famous alpine spots.
Check it out...

^^ Nice.. The choke was legitimate ski length width. How long do you guys have to tredge in and out from the snow line?

^ Thanks. The summit of Ben Nevis is 1344m, but you need to start walking from sea level.
So basically a lot of time hiking for not much skiing - but hey it is mid May and we are still skiing on good snow.
Ha - I don't think the choke would go so easily on some old school 205cms

Snow would be good, however the weather is so unpredictable.... it changes about every 3 hours.
(had to turn around on my last two attempts due to white out conditions)
Still waiting for a good weather window for my last tour of the season... not sure if I still get one in.
In June I have a few other things already planned, which were actually not skiing related.

Midi went well monday. We did two vallee blanches, one in bright sunshine, cold pow+first tracks. The 2nd in wetter pow, snowfall, and just enough visibility.
I'm still waiting for friends who did have a camera to give me photos.
Saturday was even better skiing up the midi though. I had a much more experienced friend with me and we did a cosmique, then did a low traverse to the old aig du midi midstation lift to avoid dangerous wind loading of the upper traverse slopes, a short skin up a ridge and then skiied the old lift line as far down as we could before the 1.5hr walk down to the tunnel. Snow was awesome and there was tons of it, but winds picked up to 100km/h with 150km/h gust on the second half of the run.
Compaigne du Mont Blanc should learn to open the lift sooner for skiiers and boarders, so we can finish skiing before the weather comes in. We don't need the deck of the midi cleared for us like all the tourists going up there.

Sub glacial runs topping out at 3200m plastered with snow and it is the end of may...
Awesome!
In the flat lands of canada right now. Back at the end of the week. Can't wait.

It's amazing. I thought I did well to have powder at the end of April, but there've been powder days every week since!
Personally I would have preferred the snow coming now came during that dry patch in Feb.

Verbier look like they're going to open their lifts back up on the weekend. 10cm new down to the village overnight. It never ends...
