Well the photo I uploaded is pretty generic. I'm wearing a beanie in it.

It's looking unreal over there btw. Nice shots.

Fun week in La Grave over new year.
Short video highlights below for anyone that gives a hoot.
warning : its nothing extremo, just a bunch of 30-40 year old dudes skiing some nice snow and a few couloirs - though at least there is no go-pro!

After skipping skiing around Christmas, I'm getting too damn stoked... Does anybody know what the base is like in Andermatt? Were they able to pick up some snow over the last weeks? Any info will be repaid with eternal gratitude!

andermatt ist the only "northern" resort with a big base since they were dumped upon christmas.

@ all /ulty guy the pattern does not really change but there might be some snow in the south next week.
northern alps will mostg likely stay bleak.

La Grave village, being north facing, doesn't seem much or any sun in January.
Sun sets about 4.30pm and its dark by about 5pm.

Southern alps seem to have a bigger base of snow building after last weeks dumps ?
Would also guess a slightly more stable snowpack than other areas - which have remained colder + drier ?

40cm on the Aiguille de Midi today....albeit blown by 100kph winds.... more boring powder skiing...for Piotr this was the first time skiing off the Midi. Bobsled run on the return, and some of the crevasse threading was a little spicier with more exposed ice next to chasms...

40cm is what the cmb announced as the fresh snow on the aiguille de midi today. Saw it when we got down. Must have blown over to italy, BUT the italians were skiing the french side...

Steeper lines, like the south couloir of the midi, tend to purge and so it usually does not look that deep.

Hey, 2m looks the same because we break out the wider skis! (instead of just going with the 124 under foot.) of course, we don't take photos because we are in a hurry....

Remember, reality is what you see at GM... All this haute montagne stuff is imaginary....

Anyway, I am hoping to post some 80cm photos real soon...

Speaking of GM, what's with the chunky piste? I found it difficult to ski, much better turns to be had to the right!

Some solace in knowing that once Vail Resorts buys CMB we will get some nice corduroy to replace that poor grooming!

It's that really flat on piste and hard to navigate in a whiteout?

Some are heading for courmayeur to ski trees....
