03-30-2006, 01:22 PM #13513800m at Kliene Matterhorn, from which 30 min of combined effort gets you a 1500 vertical meter steep glacier descent. Or ski the West Face (500m), lift accessible, with routes from 35-55 degrees including the "Dreiselwand", and mind-blowing ambiance. Bring your skins and overnight gear and knock off the 4000m ski touring peaks which have Zermatt (or Saas Fee) as their starting point: Breithorn, Castor, Pollux, Liskamm, Monte Rosa, Stahlhorn, Rimpfishorn, Alpubel, Allalinhorn.

Couldn't make it to Engelberg ...
... because Austria truly sucks:
Skiing down Golzentipp was really bad on Monday (photo by Annemarie Moser-Pröll):

There was no powder on the Kitzsteinhorn on Wednesday & Thursday (photo by Hansi Hinterseer):

weekend update:
saturday - nice pow at SSB, light on top half, heavy below, however visibility quickly deteriorated. the pow turns were great while they lasted (and much appreciated). it even started snowing as we left.
sunday - a five star spring day at the combe. it must've snowed a bit overnight coz the combe was virtually untracked. bluebird and no competition for lines, we tracked out the first pitch all day till the clouds rolled in around 3pm.
sadly, no pics, i forgot my camera.

My buddy Ronny reports of 40 cm of freshies in Engelberg having fallen from sunday to monday.
Travelers to e-berg have to factor in the possibility that Ronny tries to make me into a glowing red envious furball of..... envy (which he pretty much succeeded in
)
All work and no play, ... you know...

Was very nice last week in Cervina/Zermatt, but with heavy crust southern aspects, with more snow falling today. Skied Porta Nera with a little variation (20min skin) and got basically boot->knee deep pow the whole way (though I was teleing
)

04-10-2006, 01:59 AM #1374the models say andermatt/engelberg. im not sure though because these sw air flow lows aren't any good for those aspects. last time G3 got the most
