so.. tomorrow will be the last day at work and starting saturday morning we'll be based in la clusaz (one week) for some skiing/skinning/cramponing whatever the conditions dictate (but seems like there's some fresh snow on the way!). planning on visiting chamonix for some days as well.

if anyone is bored and wants to meet up with us, hints and showing some good lines will be rewarded with beer. PM/email please. group info 4 people, have rope and crevasse rescue stuff, like steeps, but all enjoy being alive and have strong intentions to keep it this way. cheers

Recommendation: don't buy an abs cartridge at Sporthaus Unterlecher, aka Sport 2000 in Fügen. They tried to rip me off the other day when I stopped by to buy one on my way out of the valley. Over the phone they told my friend (local) that it would cost 10 euros. But then they wanted to charge me 20 euros. Sure I'm not from around there but what's up with that? I hate it when people try to take advantage. I ended up paying 10 euros but I wouldn't recommend that place.
Here is a short (very short) clip from Monday and Tuesday. Nothing special but I thought I'd share. Have fun!

    Hey Euros,

gonna be over for two weeks from 10th March, will spend the first week in Austria around Arlberg and IBK, and then hook up with Scottishskier for some skiing in CH and France. Anyone keen to hook up for some turns?

Are any of the IBK crew gonna be skiing in the week of the 12th?

This was Huckfugen on Wednesday, at least what I could see of it. Actually it did clear up after lunch, but by then it didn't matter.

    St Moritz to Andermatt??

Does anyone know if I can drive the more northern route from St Moritz, thru Thusis, Bonaduz, Flims, Obersaxon, Tujetsch, Andermatt??

Google has me going down from Thusis, Andeer, Mesocca, Bellinzona, Faldo, into Andermatt.

Or is there a winter/mtn pass road closure I need to be aware of?
    Thx

You should be able to drive that way. You have to catch the car train over the oberalp pass, but other than that there is no pass that you cant get through. Drove the same route a few weeks ago and there was a lot more snow the. Make sure to look out for the town of cunter on your way.

Thanks, just the kind of info I was looking for, didn't know about the pass closure or the train.

Got caught last week going from St Anton to Bormio, the TomTom and Google sent me to a closed pass, had to backtrack into Swiss, cross the Ofenpass in moderate snow, down thru the Livigno tunnel, and over a couple of passes between Livigno and Bormio, added a few hours to the trip I hadn't planned on.

    ^^why do you trust google?

i suggest to use one of the car-clubs for closed/open pass roads: http://www.oeamtc.at/alpenpaesse/

This is not mine, this is what a friend of mine, Ben - the gentleman in the second photograph below, credits to Jumpturn of this parish - did with his days off recently. Some of you might enjoy the pictures

Kudos to the boys for taking advantage of the conditions.

Too bad the north face was not better snow....or maybe that was the approach ski talking....anything is epic!

This would have been more desirable conditions....

I was hand delivered a pair of CD2\\\'s at GVA last night by Gregor of Down Skis. I got to Cham last night. I watched a glacier calve today. I ate cheese for dinner. Full TR upcoming.

    I love Europe.
