crossed the gr san bernard yesterday night.... a little snow was falling from the pass (crevacol) to aosta.... but today the webacam show that it wasn't any serious. And, yes, uli the legendary rando-ski-bum who had already skinned 15,000 meters (about 45,000 feet, I guess) this winter just blasted us. I was so out of shape that could not make any decent use of the pow spots downhill... but at least the view was amazing and the fondue du chevre extremo indeed...

Seems to be a small chance of a little new snow for new years eve... ?
Which would coincide nicely with our arrival in the alps.

yeah looks like we'll get a bit of a freshener on nye, storm looks stonger the further south you go in france. scored some surprisingly good pow on boxing day while cham was getting lashed by a massive foehn, just went through the tunnel into a winter wonderland

It's easy. Should be be about same at VB. LG however is pegged at 50cm and AV at 28cm over the period.

Of course, then there is the meter that actually falls where you are skiing....

Not really. In the right places you'll still find nice or at least good snow. Look here:

Two days ago, at the very modest level of 1.800 m ca.

    Cheers.

Jura got/is getting pounded. Just got back and Lelex/Crozet were closed down due to an electical issue. The top 300M was nice with some mank untracked lower. I suspect that La Dole should be cash in the AM. I know it is small, but I think that when this is all done there could be 50CM+ up top. Euros chime in on the snow!

No time now. Maybe, just maybe coming weekend but will probably postpone one more w/e. I might just have some obligations 'dans les alpes' by then...

steady state of rain in martigny, freezing level @ 800-900m. Very, very light snow showers since noon in Val de Bagnes resulted in 5cm fresh at 4pm today. let the current dumpage continue throughout the night and tomorrow could be sweet.

They sound a little desperate down there.

Too bad they don't toss in a free dinner for two at Au Vieux Guide!

Goodness in Verbier! Let's just say a 2009 skiing mentality doesn't jive with a 2002 ski until about 1,202,484 cartwheels later (or after about 12:30).

some good skiing in Cham today. 20-40 cm. Generally, dust over crust, unless you hit the right places where there was no bottom.

    Plenty of crowds too.

    No photos.

sorry never got hooked up j-t, had to do some family stuff in the afternoon and it was pretty tracked by noon. as said, not a bad day and nice to ski some soft snow again (albeit with a massive core shot to prove the thin cover). was in gm line at 8:15 with a hangover and 4 hrs sleep, but twas worth it. looks like it's going to be stupid cold and dry for a while...brrr.....

i'm thinking of a powder trip over to valais saturday to farm the small spots? did further south get it better than cham? looked on the forecasts like la grave etc was going to be hit harder, but not sure if that happened in the end.
