Geo, thanks for the recommendation. "A" wasn't bad at all... way more tracked out than your photos, but we found some good stuff all the same.
Next weekend?
And in the "why didn't I do this years ago?" category, I finally retired my freeride bindings and switched to dynafits. After a day of mixed and sometimes tricky conditions, they ride identical if not better than the freerides. I'm in love.

Yeah us non-local, locals
...but I have to admit pics like yours is why Andermatt is overun by us non-locals and I can ski fresh 4-5 days after a storm with no hike/right under the lift in Valley "A" with the CH locals
BTW...nice pics Marius!
(Location is not that secret, just not talked about on this board or many others for that matter)

Chamonix
Ran a couple laps on the Grand Envers Saturday. Nice POW on the first runs, still pretty fresh on the second. The exit couloir is very nice. Sunday looked like a crowd scene on it. Probably a mogul field by now.
Sunday we did the Vallée Blanche to the col Flambeau, down the glacier Toule right side, and back the Combe Noire, which was in fine condition due to low traffic. Best to stay up against the right wall in case of weak snow bridges further out.
Several photos for your viewing stoke.

funny that the swiss locals tell you on the net they were in c******n in the secret secret Valley A.... and you recognize the same face they milked days ago and its not so secret anymore

and all those who "discover" secret spots like madesimo or this one here feel that they have to keep it secret: keep it secret and don't tell that you have found a secret spot and stop bragging about it on the internet or just say where you were. this reminds me of ptex lies and duct tape where the american ski bum tourists "discover" valley X aka la grave.
especially since anyone with a topographical map can find the good spots.
actually there must be some south of la grave like orcieres, puy st.vincent or devolouy that have lots of snow right now which would be worth "discovering" i guess. It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

this wasn't necessarily directed at you

it just came out. Marius did so at the german board etc. I just thought it was funny because i knew where you were without ever having been there
this year the vallais has good snow and since anyone can see the terrain, it is pretty obvious that a skiarea with 1000m+ vertical must have some stashes. and with a 1:25000 map they aren't really secret. you can look if they're lift accessed.
but my point was: if the swiss locals say that they were there on the internet and name it (that's how i know it ), why do people who stumble upon it do not? especially if you want to share it
?

It's absolutely fucking nuking in Durham. NUKING.
24'' is the word.
2'' an hour all night.
Plus, probably, 10'' on the hill already. 2 feet? More maybe...
edgDo you realize that you've just posted an admission of ignorance so breathtaking that it disqualifies you from commenting on any political or economic threads from here on out?

edg: no pictures, didn't happen.
subtle: you're just pissed since your own secret spot was in a warren miller movie. if you can't have one, no one can, damn it.

subtle: do you remember january 5th and 6th, i think 2006 ?
yes, me and fallinger drove 650km oneway to ski the secret spot everybody talks about, especially yours. thanks for that, 5th was a great one. but the 2 hour queue on 6th and the 4000 scandos there were a bit to much for me.
i like it more quiet, you know. like in e*******g or a*******t, when you have several days fresh tracks in g***i, s******g or l**b for only 6 euro a day with no scandinavian competition .
so, please tell me: why do you want to buy a touring set right now?
i understand.
at schnappi: dont be afraid to talk to us. we usually dont bite.
what/where have you skied ?
at geo: you are allowed to have a closer look at the site i linked. i m sure you will not find any pics of you secrets there

Give me a shout the next time you're there. I'm working this week, but am back on Saturday.
I went for a mankfest of a mini-tour the day before. Didn't think things would be that great on Thursday, and had a few things to do in the morning, so didn't make it up until lunch time. I was kicking myself after the first run. Friday was even better. Good times.
Who is the steezy lookin' muthafucka with the fullface?

Yeah all I see is cats skiing nice pow lines in red-camo fartbags
(BTW...some nice pics in there) We are a touchy bunch today aren't we......and did I ever say "secret" in any post? In realilty there are marginal "secrets" out there with this interweb thingy....at least I can be a little dilusional for a few moments thinking the 50 other people on the hill that day were just locals. Marius next time your this way drop me a PM.

the only saving grace to posting about "secret" spots is the limited euro exposure of TGR. having said that, i dont think geo was seriously trying to keep it secret, only being a cheeky bastard.
and i'm not even sure that you guys actually know this spot given the replies. what the heck is " c******n"?

actually i told everyone about the kripp from the first time i was there and it was mentioned years ago in the "skiing" mag, but nobody came

then i did some more PR, everybody came and now i have to deal with it
and that is the point:
1. i don't mind other people getting first tracks.
2. I don't mind people skiing secret spots which I'll never see.
No people or publicity. You can't have both.
So i just thought that it is a bit ironic to report about a secret spot.
and im sure geo, ripz, etc. you would share this spot with every mag you meet because you are good guys. It is not about this special occasion. I just commented on the develoment in eurland this season which involved an awful lot of "secret spots" instead of normal destinations

I know TGR gets a lot of traffic these days and not everyone is a "real mag" who is "worthy" (sounds cheesy but it is the best way to decribe what i mean) of the information and i can understand that because i would not like to give away information to people i don't like. But then suggestion number 2 would be appropriate. Just enjoy and don't tell

Been weird lately, really cold storms followed by very warm weather. Could not believe how warm it was (relatively) on top of the Aiguille du Midi on Saturday and was at around 3100m this afternoon and the occasional breeze was rather warm, now looks as if the snowline will reach 800m tonight or tomorrow.

Engelberg was a bit warm over the weekend but there was good skiing to be done off the Jochpass and down the Steinberg. Failed to meet up with Kanutten unfortunately but it sounded like he had big plans for today!

It was very cold when I came a month ago, but we had spring conditions yesterday on my birthday as my European stay came to an end. Here are some pictures from the last month (see Mr Klammer's Sense of Snow: http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109765)
