I really like my K2 Hardsides with Dynafit. Better hard snow performance than the Coomba(ck).

Second for K2 Hardsides w/ Dynafit. Skied some pretty tough lines on Saturday in deepish pow (light, knee deep) and they rocked. But they also ski decently on just about everything the PNW has thrown at them so far this season.

The reason no one is carrying the Charter is because it actually IS Acess. Go for the Acess if you want lightweight with a backbone... F dynafit, it might be easier going up but thats because you're going to need all your energy to unfu"^ yourself after you double-eject and.... well you get the point..... Good Luck!

Sorry... charter is access but marketed as their bc ski...thus more expensive for whatever reason... go for the 499 Access...

An Atomic rep told me the Charter is more lightweight than the Access, something about lighter materials. They didn't have one on hand so I couldn't confirm.

My buddy just picked up some Access's and they're definitely not twinned. Maybe a material difference then, but I thought the access looked like a sweet touring rig.
edit: nevermind wrong ski...BD Aspect is what he got. Little skinnier, but superlight and reasonably stiff.

G3 Zenoxides...not sure why they aren't more talked about on here. I have had mine out several times this year & love em. Mobile & easy to kick around when turning, but big enough to handle deep snow without diving. More early rise than rocker, but last years are $300 at DoG -

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.

the access is definitely twin tipped. My son picked up a pair of 161's. He would not buy a non twin tip. They look great. Really excited to get out with him on them. I think a big improvement over the hellbents he's been touring on.

The totally unnecessary, and in fact detrimental twin on the rear of the access is why I didn't go with them. I'm not a jibber and don't ride switch in the BC, I'm just a simple touring and mountaineering kind of guy. I want a flat tail with a skin clip notch, plus the lack of the big twin out back appears to mean a longer running length also, which in my mind is a good thing. I hate it when the skin clips slide off the upturned tail on a twin. And, given that the shop that ordered them for me gave me such a good deal, they really aren't any more expensive than the Access.
All that said, I found a shop that has them in stock and now am wondering if I should've bought a ski sight unseen. The Charter has a very round flex pattern and a fairly soft overall flex plus it has a lot of camber. This is actually what I was trying to get away from. Reviews I'd read of them said they're like a burlier Coomback, but from what I could tell flexing them side-by-side in the store that's not the case at all and the Coomback has less camber.
They also had the Voile Chargers there, and that's the kind of ski I was hoping to get into - stiffer under foot without a lot of camber. The Dynafit Stoke is also stiffer under foot but I'm scared of those stupid plastic binding screw inserts.
Oh well, I'm committed, can't return a special order. I'll mount them up and see how I like 'em and if I don't I suppose I could always try to sell them and get something else.Last edited by Chainsaw_Willie; 11-21-2011 at 02:07 AM.
