Union money doesn't come close Gov. Walker's money.

Check the dog more often. No reason a tick should get that big. On the bright side it probably was a wood tick thus chance of Lymes is remote.

This was the first time I was able to get close enough to the dog to see ticks. It is a Res dog that was running wild for at least the past 9 months. She had plenty of deer ticks as well.

Lotta turtles running around today as well - must be the monsoon.

I found a Blanding's turtle, which is State Threatened about three weeks ago at a dog trial. It was cool to show the kids and even some adults. You don't see that species every day.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) had scheduled a “Unity Rally” for the evening of Wednesday, May 9th, on the steps of the state capitol. The rally was supposed to feature all the Democratic candidates and others uniting to defeat Walker and expressing support for the winner of the Democratic primary. The DPW has canceled the Unity Rally.

    DailyKos is apoplectic:

I don’t know why the rally was canceled, but there has been widespread, unsubstantiated speculation that the front runner in the primary, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, decided at the last minute not to attend. The rumor being spread is that Tom Barrett does not want to be seen in the company of union leaders and union members for fear of having images of his participation in the rally being used against him by the Walker campaign. Others are speculating that the whole thing is a last-minute dirty trick perpetrated by supporters of Kathleen Falk. Barrett has a wide lead over Falk in the most recent polls. Is it really Barrett who backed out, or did somebody design a set of conditions for the rally that they knew would force Barrett to back out so they could smear him? We deserve better than this bullshit from the establishment running the party. Tom Barrett, Kathleen Falk, and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin need to come clean... Right FUCKING NOW!

    Blue Fisters are so funny.

Wait until the gigantic spaz-out on June 6th.

I think this Unity Rally shut down is a conspiracy by the Koch brothers!!!

I can't blame Barrett for not wanting to be associated with The Blue Fisters (Unity Rally). He may be a two (soon to be three) time loser, but he's not a moron. The next month oughta be funny....

    OMG!!!!

Walker got more votes than all the dems combined in the primary.

That could be a sitcho for the unions.

Were you home schooled by Count Chocula?

    Governor Percent Reporting - 100%
    Scott Walker (R-I) 626,538 97%
    Arthur Kohl-Riggs (R) 19,920 3%
    Tom Barrett (D) 390,109 58%
    Kathleen Falk (D) 228,940 34%
    Kathleen Vinehout (D) 26,926 4%
    Doug La Follette (D) 19,461 3%
    Gladys Huber (D) 4,842 1%

    390,109 + 228,940 + 26,926 + 19,461 = 665,436

    665,436 > 626,538

Democrat voters outnumber Republican voters by 38,898.

Now add in both protest candidates (Huber and Kohl-Riggs) and the difference is even bigger.

    685,356 > 631,380

Democrat voters out number Republican voters by 53,976.

Yet you won't place a small bet on the recall.

    Can't argue with that math.

News Flash...They are ALL protest candidates.

I miss heard the news story. It said he had more votes than the top two Dems. It doesn't change the point. Walker needed
20,000 votes to win. No one needed to turn out for him. And he STILL pulled more votes than the legit dem candidates.

That's some amazing logic right there.

If you think Gov. Walker supporters weren't motivated to go to the polls you're kidding yourself. They wanted to be able to make the exact comment you did. Of course most were dumb enough to make that comment when they saw the results.

Rasmussen reports is out with the first post-primary poll of the recall election in Wisconsin. It looks like Scott Walker, not Democrat Tom Barrett, got the coveted post-primary bounce:

Embattled Republican Governor Scott Walker holds a five-point lead over his newly nominated Democratic challenger Tom Barrett in Wisconsin’s special recall election.

A new Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey shows that 50% of the state’s Likely Voters prefer Walker while 45% choose Barrett. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate and another two percent (2%) are undecided.

In an earlier Rasmussen poll last month, 52% of likely voters said they supported the effort to recall Walker. This shift in voter sentiment suggests that Walker is taking the early momentum in the recall race. Combined with his very motivated base of political support, this shift in the polls puts Walker firmly in the driver's seat ahead of the June vote.

MADISON, Wis. - We thought the Wisconsin recall was all about restoring collective bargaining for public employees.

But the Democrats of Wisconsin obviously don't agree.

They made that clear Tuesday when they overwhelmingly rejected Kathleen Falk, the anointed candidate of the public sector unions, in the Democratic gubernatorial primary election. Falk lost by nearly 25 percentage points to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who is lukewarm at best on the collective bargaining issue.

That leads us to pose a logical question - Why is the state even bothering with a recall election?

It's becoming clear that the majority of Wisconsin residents have no burning desire to ditch Act 10, Gov. Scott Walker's landmark legislation limiting collective bargaining privileges for public employee unions, including teachers unions.

They see schools and local governments saving millions of dollars at a time when they need it most, and they understand how that's more important than the desire of the unions to get even with Walker.

So now Wisconsin will have a gubernatorial recall election June 5 that has nothing to do with the original reason for the recall effort. Walker and Barrett will be debating traditional issues like job creation and budget priorities, the same issues they debated two years ago in the regularly scheduled election.

Walker beat Barrett in that contest, supposedly earning a four-year term. The recall was supposed to be a union effort to topple Walker and reject Act 10. But the unions couldn't even sell their candidate or agenda to their own Democratic Party.

So we ask once again - Why is the state even bothering with a recall election?

Huh. According to the latest numbers (where 95% were surveyed opposed to 3.5% in your gay little chart) Wisconsin is actually showing a modest recovery on par with the rest of the nation. That must really suck for you Blue Fisters that Wisconsin isn't circling the drain as you hoped.

In a potentially ominous sign for the Obama campaign, a new poll has declared Wisconsin a true tossup state, finding President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney locked in a 46%-46% tie among likely voters.

According to a new and more reliable jobs report, the BLS report cited by the Democrats is inaccurate. As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports today, the BLS "figures were based on a sample of 3.5% of the state's employers and are subject to significant revisions." According to the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages--which is a hard count of actual jobs in Wisconsin, not a survey--the state actually gained more than 30,000 since Walker took office.
