Art of Flight is now available on iTunes. It was a big letdown for me. It's an hour and twenty minutes long, but it feels like there is only 20 minutes of actual snowboarding. The actual riding is amazing, especially the big mountain freestyle. I wish I could get a version edited down of just snowboarding. As it is, it really drags on with all the scenics, slow-mo, back story, and lame narration.

Confirm that it's live on iTunes? Confirm. That is twenty minutes of shred and the rest is documentary type/product placement stuff? Can't say either way - have yet to to see it. I originally decided to go ahead and wait until I got my copy in the mail to watch it, but then I caved last night and decided I needed to get an advanced screening from itunes. Then I remember that I'm on Ubuntu (hdd crashed and have yet to reinstall 7) and getting itunes going properly on there is another story entirely - at least one I'm not going to tackle just to want a movie. So now I'm waiting for the mail either way.
Rumor mill says that Jeremy and Travis get pretty rowdy, though.
But for $9.99 on itunes, you should just watch it.

It doesn't seem possible but I am guessing he topped his last movie so this is probably something everyone should buy on blu-ray! I guess all I can say is I don't see skiers tapping tree brances 40-50feet in the air but skiing is still cooler.

Unfortunately I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, the cinematography, editing, production value, and video quality are absolutely stunning, however, I was left wanting more from a snow sports perspective. Each scene felt like the same scene formula over and over. Its almost more of a technology demonstration than a snowboard film in my opinion.
I would like to know more about the POV footage though, in a few shots I definitely see Travis wearing a GoPro, however, nothing I have ever generated with my GoPro, in ideal lightning conditions comes close to quality of that footage. Either they are using an unreleased GoPro, which I want, or they know how to process the video (teach me!).

You are so right and I agree 100%. Too much pattern to it.
I wonder if the actual DVD has more extra stuff.
I watched it last night and it really felt more like a documentary than a shred film. Not in a bad way I guess, but I wished for about 1.5 hours more, of the same style because then I would have seen more riding.
The riding is so great (not good, great) that it really makes it a great movie.
I have to say, the video below 5:00min long, but it rivals the entire Art of Flight.

I'm downloading it now... I'll post a review when it's done. I was impressed with the cinematography in the last one but thought, wow, that's a LOT of money to spend on heli time to hit a pretty cool booter.... I was expecting better with this one.

I think it is better and there is more riding than TITA. TRavis is getting better, just like JJ says, which is scary cause he is already bonerific.
The Patagonia segment is next level, and I cannot wait until they film there again. They need me there to help negotiate with the locals and spirits.Terje was right.

I have to agree somewhat as well. Was left wanting more after watching it, I know Curt was trying to strike a balance between ski porn style and documentary but for my taste it was a little too much of the latter. He wants people that don't ski or snowboard to be able to enjoy the movie but for those of us who are die hard skiers and snowboarders, it doesn't quite cut it. But don't get me wrong, the riding is insane as well as the cinematography but I know there is a bunch of awesome footage they left out. I have a buddy who works for Brain Farm who had been telling me about all this cool shit they filmed and less than half ended up in the movie. In particular, some Jackson shots from the Village never made the cut nor did the awesome shot of Travis grinding the ski lift cable down in Chile that was in the trailer. I wouldn't be surprised however if there are a ton of extras on the DVD to make up for this tho. All things considered, it is an amazing film and most definitely go out and see it.

Just finished watching it, and it was entertaining as shit. Personally, using the cinematography as a crutch was fine because it looks so fucking good, just watched a trailer for "On the Road" afterwards and it looked like VHS in comparison.
I didn't find it to feel too "documentary," more and more it seems like films are pushing in that direction and I'm down with the Planet Earth shots.
Bottom line is I don't even like snowboarding but I could sit down and watch the whole thing through again. It's going to be tough to compete with anything that looks so good and in the next couple of years I imagine people are going to want everything looking like it.

So I ended up watching this last night.... Holy shit. I thought it was pure awesome. Yeah, there is def a documentary style to the flow of the movie, but enough stoke and unbeleivable cinematography to blow your mind. This is coming from a guy that typically doesnt enjoy snowboard footage.

I think people that haven't seen That's It That's All will like it a lot more than people who have. TITA has all the great cinematography with a lot more focus on snowboarding.

And, I have to say, that you are a clueless dolt.
Art of flight = best snowboard film ever made. And, one of the best documentary style sports movies ever made. Perfect mix of story line and action. Amazing cinematography. Stunning riding. 10/10
Edit to add that whoever was in charge of the sound at McCaw Hall failed miserably. Half of the words were unintelligible. The eq was waaaay off and the volume was a LOT higher than was necessary.Last edited by doughboyshredder; 09-11-2011 at 02:47 AM.

The movie was pretty amazing. I'm glad it wasn't a typically shred flick - a very nice change of pace. I liked the narration, especially the voice over from the guy in Patagonia who more-or-less says "Even you when are suffering and saying this is the last time, as the feeling passes, you are wondering when will be the next."
Random highlights, AK ender - frontside five and switch to the end. Jackson segment - because of the trick porn and because of how they built up to it. The final shot before the credits: chute to to kicker to massive first hit to total stomp.
Also really like what one kids about Jeremy Jones talking up Travis at the end: "When Jeremy Jones says you're the man, you're the f***ing man!"

Yeah I liked it a lot. Those guys sure go huge/ I am surprised I am the first one to mention how fast he ripped that convoluted rocky chute in the crappy snow conditions on the Chile/Argentina border. I always enjoy the "documentary" inserts, I feel it gives me more of a background as to what was going on. The thing I found annoying was the segment up in Nelson where they consistently kept triggering avy's on all their tests and kept going until one of them got slid off of a cliff. I understand there is probly pressure to get shots and whatnot but dont do that and continuously spew off the "respect for the mountains" cliches. Regardless I'm thoroughly pleased with this movie
