Raichle Flexon - Worth It?
Hey there TGR, I am posing a question to you all, as TGR seems very knowledgeable when it comes to older equipment, specifically the recycling of Raichle Flexon boots.
So, right now, I hate my boots. I know that Raichles are the exact same as Full Tilts, but my concern is "is it worth it?". Would it be worth it to invest in a pair of raichles, the tongues, new cables and new liners (tongues and cables only if necessary)? If I decide to buy a pair of FT's later, the concern is gone, because the equipment would cross-over, but what if I don't?
Sorry if I am rambling, but basically, how do they hold up? They are 10 year old boots, and plastic degrades overtime, so, how durable are they?
Sorry if it doesn't make sense, but any help would be nice!

1) do they fit YOU? is that the right shaped boot for YOU?
2) yes, parts cross over from FT to raichle.
3) see #1
4) plastic will be fine
5) see point #1

honestly, unless you kept your boots in a well climate controlled place I wouldn't use 10 year old boots on anything gnarly without doing a little bit of testing first. I've seen old boots EXPLODE on fogies before at resorts. Just cause they think that they can pull out their 80s and 90s gear out and just carve again.
If they boots have seen very much sun in their storage life, could be bad...theres no way to say 100% they will be fine. but theres failure rates for everything...pájaro enfermo

Not many days on them but I'm happy. Boots ($25) + uncooked Scarpa Intuitions ($70) + BoosterStraps ($20)+Toe punch($6)= $121. Got another pair for spare parts for $20. Fit my skinny, low volume feet great. Me - 11 shoe and 318mm Flexons. 28.5 MegaRide's.
My $125 rig. Skis were free.

I was told that that some Flexons are wider, like these

I don't think I would use ten year old boots. Plastic breaks down in the cold. I had a AT boot blow up on me (while skiing). Tore the heal out of the boot. Plastic breaks, and it really sucks when it happens.

02-06-2011, 10:22 PM #13Hey d-bag - here's something for you to think about: maybe (just maybe) not everybody here has their little panties in a wad 24/7 and flies into a rage whenever somebody disagrees with them. Maybe these same mags don't take this place uber-seriously. Maybe this even includes the vast majority of the people who post here as opposed to you and like 20 other thin-skinned douchebags. Just something to think about. -JER

I found a pair of womens' raichle flexons in a periwinkle blue...in great shape, and my buddies are helping me get the liners just right....My question is: does anyone know just WHEN these were made? I have searched on-line and not seen any that are all-blue....no two tone job....
Thanks for the info, I hope????

I will pipe up for the Flexon's. Only alpine boot I ski!! I have a narrow foot with a high instep. I keep an eye out af the D.I. and on KSL and Craigslist. If I see a pair pop up for $25-50 bucks I grab them. I have three pairs right now and kinda rotate between them. I have yet to shear a heel off and have only blown out one buckle so far.
I love them if for no other reason than they fit my feet so wonderfully.
