Dead Drunk?
Anybody have a recording of a show from the early or mid 70s where the band was really shit-faced and just about all they did the whole show was play scales? This wasn't "Tripping Dead" (I think); this was all-out "we can't hold it together so let's just move the hand up and down the guitar neck" f'd up. I heard a tape of it in 1977, so it had to be before that, and would sure like to listen to it again.
Bueller? Thx.Sometimes pride comes after a fall.

The only good thing that came out of 1995: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKhM-Ed8R8k (couldn't find a live video of the better Delta Center version).

she plays a lot of good stuff. i actually won the only radio show contest i've ever won on her show shortly after jerry died by identifying the source of this quote:
“There’s no way to measure his greatness or magnitude as a person or a player. I don’t think any eulogizing will do him justice. He was that great, much more than a superb musician, with an uncanny ear and dexterity. He’s the very spirit personified of whatever is Muddy River country at its core and screams up into the spheres. He really had no equal. To me, he wasn’t only a musician and friend, he was more like a big brother who taught and showed me more than he’ll ever know. There’s a lot of spaces and advances between The Carter Family, Buddy Holly and say Ornette Coleman, a lot of universes, but he filled them all without being a member of any school. His playing was moody, awesome, sophisticated, hypnotic and subtle. There’s no way to convey the loss. It just digs down really deep”

There's approximately five musicians with the credibility to say that and only one who can say it so well.

Guess this is a good place to ask. My Deadbase X is starting to get worn out, does anyone have a PDF version of a Deadbase?

Here's one I've been spinning a bit lately
2/26/77 - just an all around top level buttery '77 with a Terrapin OPENER (first terrapin ever) and a first Estimated Prophet, silky Sugaree & TLEO. Just a really raging first set, and a great show all around. Even Donna really sounding nice. A+ quality matrix here:

My ears have stopped on this date in time lately.

Highlight is a near 45 minute Dark Star and beautiful reading of HCS. A much overlooked performance. Jerry and Bobby vocals are very good, and playing is near flawless. Also, Donna was missing.

Tonights offering: http://www.archive.org/details/gd197...2.sbeok.flac16 One of Hs' gems, IMHO. A classic! Very smooth from start to finish.

Warning: thread hijack, but anyone reading this may enjoy this current live dead factoid.
Furthur has been playing the Abbey Road album one song at a time, tonight will be 'I want you'. Started with Come Together last Friday at The Orpheum in Boston. I can't wait to compile into a playlist when they're done.
Now back to the regularly scheduled program.

-played by DSO at the Mighty High Festival last week. If you haven't seen DSO lately they are tearing the cover off the ball these days.

https://archive.org/details/gd1977-0...usborne.flac16. Awesome show from May '77, I really dig the subtle background rift playing of the guitar through whole show.
Always charging it in honor of Flyin' Ryan Hawks.
