SF-Costa Rica- $288 Dec 26-Jan3
Hmmmm.....
Flights on United got cheaper...only catch is that the United fags have a board embargo during high season, so you wont be able to bring your own boards.

Are you still looking at flights from SF to San Jose CA?

Just got back from Costa Rica. Had many overhead days at Tulin (a little south of Hermosa) with just me and my brother out. Scored Playa Grande the same size with offshores howling all day long. Magic....

Nice...That pic brings it all back....I always stay in Hermosa at Rancho Grande. Basic accomodations. Hot shower. $10 a night. Owner (Brian) is a real character. My brother went down south and hit Pavones after I left and scored it huge.....Bastard.

12-09-2004, 04:49 PM #6fkna, united is so anal about things like this. By far the worst I've dealt with in bringing oversized/heavy gear. Sounds like a sweet deal though if you could work out a decent board hook while you're down there...Any maggots have property down there? Actually just got some info on properties down there, looks like some sweet deals... ahh the future

Sweet! I stayed at Fuego Del Sol, it was kinda pimpin and there's tons of chicks there, then another time was at Villa Hermosa which was a little more dirtbaggy.
Tulin and pigfarms were always on. JAco was gkinda gnar with the closeout beachbreaks.
Never made it to Pavones since the skunk factor is high. I've talked to guys who went there and just sat out flat spells.
My last trip was in Sep and stayed in Tamarindo. Real nice set up there with Grande, Avallanas, and boat trips to Roca Bruja, Ollie's and other random boat-access spots on the CR/Nic border.

Saw two people snap boards there on my last trip (6 foot faces breaking into 3ft of water). I was talking to some locals, and apperantly the reason Tulin was so dead was because a croc took a bite out of some guy's board a couple of months back. Not sure if it's true. Didn't think those reptiles swam that far away from the river mouths....Tamarindo is great. Never made it to Witches. Next time....

I got owned there by the SUV sized rock . No one was surfing near it, but that's where the choice sets were breaking. I used it as a marker point and it sucks dry when a set rolls in.
Sure enough I stopped paying for .03 second, and the rock snuck up underneath me, and I was drydocked for the 6 foot set. I had my brand new board, so I rolled on my back and threw my board out to save it. The wave broke and my back was all smeared.
Here's the peak that I had to myself for the most part

This was a huge day at Hermosa. Hard to tell the size in the pic, but you could drive my truck through some of the barrels that day. Took me 4 times to get out, took so many waves on the head it was insane. Only two other guys made it out that day.
