Saddleback rips and I haven't even been there since all of the improvements started a few years back. Plus its empty (unlike sugarbush) so we could own that place. I would definitely make the drive. Also agree with bumpskier that prez day weekend would be a bad choice anywhere.

How about Mad Rivah? It's got snow, steeps, beds, and beers... (Not to mention near several mags homes.) The Hide Away would be a great place for mags to stay over (cheap, decent food, pool table, bar, etc.)
Saddleback looks interesting, but too far.
Someone should PM(S) Bumpskier and see if she has an opinion on this!Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

MRG will never happen because of the slowboarders.
Let's look into another location for next year, or a spring mini for bumps somewhere else with a super deep base that'll be open later in the year. Magic will be a good time though with the bar, possibilities for cheap lodging, and lots of mags who might not go somewhere else anyway since they all have passes there.
We should focus on getting a date set to get the highest attendance possible AND THEN maybe a second mini in the same year, which I personally think would rule.
Plus, after all the shit I took last year, no way am I ever going to suggest or vote for another location. #fingermustache.....I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

I'm not at all in favor of giving Stratton money, but how awesome would it be to MAGIC up Stratton, by having the mini there, and playing a huge game of GNAR for the day. ( http://unofficialnetworks.com/gnar/ )
Costumes, call outs, vulgarity, debauchery, rad skiing and moustaches???
Any thoughts on the idea??Magic Mountain Freeride Team...bringing your grom's game to the next level.

YES!!! I am out of comission for any serious skiing the rest of this season due to a piece of shit destroyed shoulder, but will definitely show up to slowly slide groomers in my fartbag, drink, and take lots of pictures of people getting rad!!
** Edit to say you should start a thread about this incredible event now. I would do it myself but this is too good an idea to snipe like that! As long as it doesn't conflict with any of the freeride tour stops (which I think you're still planning on attending anyways?) I'm down! It should probably be in March if we're doing the mustache thing, that would also make it more of a special crazy event than mixing it in with the rest of the general April foolishness. 12/13 is Jay, what about the following weekend? Possibly pull in some non-mag freeride tour competitors for a bit of an after party too... Who can help get a deal on tickets? Any downlow Stratton employees on here??

I think we should do the Mini at Magic whatever weekend. I'm definitely in for a game of GNAR/freak out the gapers at Stratton though. There are some employees on here, and I'd bet that they can tell us when appreciation week is (and get us the hook up on tickets). We can also go through group sales. Generally 15 people = group sale, so we could get discounts that way.
I vote for early april for GNAR at stratton since I'll be in Jackson the week of the 19th-26th.....
What about pairing it with april fools day. April 2nd?It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

oh i missed alot... guess i spent too long pushing that brown button

DOWORK: im interested in this west mountain crap as well. we should go get drunk with 6000. they spin till 11PM!!!!??!?!?! BUCKETHEAD this mountain has something for us to do after everyone goes to bed!!!!!!!
6000: when someone says 'get some stoke in here' they typically mean pics. its kind of like when youre bored and wish you had some porn, your buddy describing a porn to you isnt going to cut it. POIDH.
but man... everyone jumping on calling him a troll? guilty until proven innocent? fucking puritans! im giving 6000 the benefit of the doubt and given what magic looks like from its website youd be ignant to write off another small mountain with a crap website. but word up like necro said 'dont act rugged if youre not cause when we bring it youll be fucked'.
with that said, 6000 i hope you come with the reals.
but that was how i felt until i saw that CAPTAIN ANAL rides there so now i know the place is fucked. (PS i hope youve still been fucking yourself even though i havent reminded you in a while).
although i LOVE the idea of a mini at stratton (totally imagining all you haters trying to keep up with DAMIAN SANDERS, NICCACRATES, CHADS GAP and I), it will probably be too expensive for most and playing G.N.A.R. would be be fun for the first hour before were kicked off the mountain.
tux mini should definitely happen. a good sized group of people to help share the load would make it so much easier to get a quarter keg up there.
but i agree 90% with what BUMPSKIER said."yeah, yeah. you buy playboy for the articles just like i watch brokeback mountain for the scenery... wait, that doesnt work."

WTF r u talking bout??? (Did I miss something or r u just stirring shit up?)
Bumpskier, so what's the solution? Magic just has win written all over it. Cheap, steep, deep and located central to all. Not to mention a bar/deck that's easy for maggots to meet and greet.
The relaxed vibe is so nice, the mountain is easily half maggots, tickets are reasonable and conditions are usually great. I know it's your home Mt. and all, but I can't think of a better place to do this thing. Besides, it's kind of become a tradition... maybe you're just trying to keep it all to yourself???!
VT-F kinda sums it up in his opening statement:
If you guys want to ski MRG any other time, come on up and I'll get you a discount. Srsly.Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

Lol... TC would probably love to do it!
I didn't realize the "work/daycare" factor for you. It's just I love the whole Magic scene and unfortunately I really only get there for the summits.
But, I'd be happy to have it further north, too... Are there that many snowboarders who'd like to come? (At Magic, I can't remember any other than MtBikeBoarder, and we made him use skis anyhow!) I don't want to see anyone excluded, so those who ride (myself sometimes included), please speak up. Otherwise MRG would be my vote.Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

Stratton has it's place but you'll hate it. I was just there a couple weeks ago when Magic was closed mid-week. It seriously sucked ass. Although I was with 3 ladies & did not really hit any trees or anything.
My neighbor works over there & can definitely hook you guys up with tickets. Let me know but once a year is enough for me.

Two things.
If the summit was at Stratton, I'd delete my user account. Word up. That idea has more dicks in its mouth than teeth.
I'm down for anywhere else though. Nihiles, I hear you loud and clear- drinking until 11 on the chair? I'm already in. I know Bucket's down and suspect others would be in as well. Also, even if the summit is at Magic, I'd like to get out to Saddleback to check out all this hard work they put in this year so maybe we should just have this be the year of the mini summits? There just seems to be a lot of ideas and they are all good at this point... Every other weekend or so, set a different field trip mountain if we want to get some mileage and check some shit out maybe? I bet if one of us got on the horn with the mountains and told them it was an internet destination on X weekend, we might be able to wrangle a discount. I agree with you 100% DoWork but the thought of a Magic crew heading over could be funny. Here I am claiming our FREE tickets in full Magic gear.
The Save Magic sticker on the bar @ Grizzly's.

My Don't Stratton Magic sticker got some looks for sure. One Douche refused to take our picture in the gondola.

So yeah, I had my Stratton fill for the next 5 years or so, but if anyone wants discount tickets or possibly FREE tickets for a recon mission feel free to let me know.

As much as I agree that Stratton and it's loyalists need to me made fun of, the thought of actually forming a summit around it makes me want to drown a whole a box full of puppies. That and we had better stop half-ass playing GNAR all day every day if we're actually going to play it at some point, as it is getting a little annoying. We get it. The game is great. Let's not make it our everything tho... Seriously, it's getting burnt out faster than Charlie Sheen's $100 gift card at the bunny ranch.

While I really don't know WTF you're saying, my only point is if any of the Magic crew wants to head over, I have a line on cheap/FREE tickets. We took Lisa the bartender over for her birthday when Magic was closed.
Wasn't entirely as horrible as I remembered just super boring. It seemed like a busy Magic day & I was told it was 1/12 the crowd they have on a weekend ski day.
