The Backcountry is hiring! Truckee, California
The Backcountry seeks experienced retailers and mechanics! We’re a small but busy bike & ski shop in Truckee, California, in business since 1993. We work hard to be a valuable resource for anyone who visits this area to go backcountry skiing, rock climbing, and mountain biking, among many other sports.
We have the following openings, starting immediately:
* Retail sales person 2? days per week
* Ski & snowboard mechanic 1-2 days per week
* Office help 1-2 days per week
We work 10 hour days. For the right person more than one of these jobs can be combined to make a ¾ or full-time job. In fact strong preference will be given to anyone who can handle two or more of these job descriptions and can multi-task between them on different days, and sometimes within a day, though this is not a requirement to apply.
We’re not the typical downhill ski or snowboard shop; we specialize in backcountry gear! So you need to be experienced and familiar with *backcountry* bindings and the boots that work with them. If all of your experience is in standard shops with lift-served ski gear, we don’t have time to train you on all the differences! You need to have been out there backcountry skiing or snowboarding/splitboarding, and you need experience in some type of outdoor retail shop. Bike shop experience is helpful if you want to stay on for the summer. Long-term interest will make a stronger candidate than short-term, but we’ll take short-term if your qualifications are good and your interest is high.
Please email us (also ask any questions you might have) and we’ll send you more job information and how to apply. Unfortunately we don’t have much time to take questions by phone, but we will answer all emails.
Please contact us by email! * Please include the word "job" in your email subject or we might not catch it! * eric@thebackcountry.net. Do NOT reply here in-thread or by PM unless you don't want me to see it for a week!

Filled!
Thank you to any who replied by email.
This job is filled -- we found someone who can fill all of the part-time hours (tech, retail, office) to make a full time position.
Let it snow!
