^^^ What boots? 2012 Tecnica toe inserts seem to be having some issues.

I only have about 10 days on mine, but so far no issues. (Not entirely true, I had the adjustment plate come loose, but I put some red Locktite on it and haven't had any problems since.) So far, so good. Hopefully will still be good next season when I can put a full season of skiing on them.

There it is, defective boot insert design or manufacturing (sockets are too shallow). Not the bindings.

More info on Tecnica tech sole failures can be found here, for those that missed it.

You posted in the thread about the "bad inserts in Tecnica boots" on 03-26-2012 at 07:10 PM, and now six weeks later you're posting in the Plum thread that you're blowing out of their bindings...without mentioning that you're using boots that are known to have this exact problem?

I didn't think it was possible for the tech inserts to go bad after five or six days of use. Plus being new to both the boot and binding I wasn't sure which of the 2 were the issue. Once I locked the binding I was fine. Also I talked to another Cochise owner who had zero problems so I thought perhaps it was just a few people that had defective tech inserts . I will rethink it now.

Any tips for those of us curious to see the new Plum website but incapable of figuring out how to avoid the automatic redirect to the highly uninformative and outdated U.S. distributor's website?

...without the all-metal heel units they were showing at ISPO and that local guides have been using? Lame.

I can't even get on to the Plum website. There is a header saying, "You cannot access our store from your country. We apologize for the inconvenience." There is a link to the Redline Sports Group and I can't find Plum under the list of brands they represent. Their regional coverage seems to be Midwestern US. I'm sure motivated to buy a pair of Plums now! There is no access to the store from Canadian IP addresses anymore and obviously no warrantee or technical support as a result.

If they're updating their website it could just be a temporary glitch. I doubt their distributor is going to list products so they'll have to bring it back sometime.

It's is a bummer if they are ditching the all aluminum heel. My clit is disappointed.

Wonder how much harder it is to tear binding toes out of those plastic plates (Delrin?) than it is to tear them out of fiberglass/wood skis? If they're Delrin they'll be a lot better than cutting board polyethylene, that's for sure. http://www.machinist-materials.com/c...r_plastics.htm

Go check my recent post in the technica thread and you will see that it is possible for the problem to show up on the first run.

Could someone post the official plum blurb (if any) accompanying the yak for those in Canada who aren't invited to the party.
The brake release would have accompanied this model nicely... not convinced on this design, will the og guide with a retrofittable heel block still be offered?

may well be a work-in-progress but right now no blurb - only thing on there is "Add to Cart"

"You cannot access our store from your country. We apologize for the inconvenience." That is what comes up when you try to go to the website from a Canadian IP address, accompanied by this, http://www.redlinesportsgroup.com/

Cheers jinky, and thanks for reiterating my exclusion wetdog...
Is the price bumped up from guide? Hope it's a work in progress, a one piece toe unit and all metal heel would be nice, I bet weight would still be ft comparable but it would set a benchmark for tech burl (g3 doesn't count) and feel.

^ 350 for the guide versus 459 for the yak (think the guide used to be up near the 400 mark, but its a big differnce to the Yak, given the heel shown aint the full metal jacket as noted above)

^ tlt almighty, guide it is then.

Any pragmatic mags care to explain the advantage of a wide platform with a tech binding? Assuming that's the major difference, which may well not be the case
