Who's around on Friday? Gonna burn some wifey points and bail on responsibilities and get up there before the big NCP storm gets here this weekend.

So, what's with the lack of photos/videos/results from the comp this past weekend?
Life is tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid.

Snow was too good to stop to watch the comp. I competed in it. It was fun, but the rest of the skiing that I did was wayyyy better than standing at the top of black magic waiting for my turn.
It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Yo bluebird! What's it looking like for tomorrow? How did Monday treat the hill? Yesterdays little windex event do any good?

I'll do a snow report after my groomer checks in. Monday was a net gain, but definitely got crusty at the end. Yesterday saw 1-2", but probably blew off most stuff. Anything we can groom will be great, the rest will be interesting. It could warm up enough to be awesome, or not.

I'll be eagerly watching the snow report and weather. I'd love to get up Saturday if the r*in is going to hold off until late...

BB - So from the snow report it looks like things may still be a bit crusty. How significant is it?

its crusty. I really have no idea how the ungroomed is going to ski. if it stays hard one could probably stay on top, if is gets nice and soft we are good; somewhere in the middle not so much. A guy was skinning on Tuesday that said it all skied well, but it was nice and sunny that day. Then again we have picked up 1-2" of wind blown snow since then. For tomorrow I wouldn't plan a trip based on skiing the ungroomed stuff. Saturday we should be nice and creamy, albeit possibly a little wet. Who the hell knows.

Crusty was a good, gentle word to describe it. Fantastic job with the groomer, it was smoove and fast. I'm thinking bumpskier is some kind of wonderwoman though, her opinion was "eh, it's just a little scratchy." Made me feel small

Slide of Fire
Saturday was full on. The bad event held off to give us some phenominal spring corn skiing. Upper Magician, Red, Black and Sorcerer were fantastic all afternoon.
Guy just sent me this video.

I'm still in New Orleans, so I won't be making it, but I'm just making the declaration here that I will be having my own spring fling next time I get up complete with costume, excitement, and comically shaved facial hair. It's going to be the best spring fling on the mountain.

Fear not, this weekend is spring fling sunglasspintglass weekend. So go retro, get some steezy shades and grab a new save magic pint glass from UNM.
Next weekend is mountaintop party/costume weekend.
2 weeks of fun. That's Magic.

Getting to Magic coming up 91, is it faster to get off at Brattlboro and take 30, or stay on 91 until exit 5? I know staying on 91=14 extra miles, but it stil could. Be faster.

I think it's almost exactly the same if the weather is good, with possibly a minute advantage to the highway. My GPS claims it's faster to go through Brattleboro, but it doesn't believe I'll ever get a stop light and takes me on a road at the end where if there has been snow (which would be a nice problem to have at the moment) I always lose time due to needing to drive more slowly as it's rarely well cleared compared to the highway route.

I know a lot of people like 30, but I prefer x6 > 103/11.

I posted this in the EC thread, but thought I should repost it here: I have a few free Magic passes if anyone has friends they want to convince to get out on the hill in a next few weeks. I only ask that whoever uses the passes buy themselves some food at the cafeteria so the hill gets at least a tip from their visit.
Edit: Dibs have been called on the tickets, I'll remove this if anyone rescinds.Last edited by MarcusBrody; 03-24-2011 at 10:49 AM.
